Two-time Commonwealth champion Nicol David has won all the big titles in squash except Olympic gold. You see, squash remains on the other side of the Olympic fence despite several campaigns.

"Some of the Olympic chiefs came by," she said.

"There's been a lot of good TV coverage of Glasgow 2014 and there have been big crowds. It's a spectacular sport. Fingers crossed at the end of the year that there might be a deal for change."

"After Chris and Gabby Adcock took the first game easily 21-15 against Malaysia duo Peng Shoon Chan and Lai Pei Jing they were made to work hard in the second.

"They edged it 28-26 but only after saving six game points, and it came down to a few bad serves which Chris was able to punish. So that means England are 1-0 up in the best of five with Rajiv Ouseph next up against Chong Wei Feng in the men's singles."

England's Louis Smith screams 'Come on!' and punches the air after nailing his first competitive pommel horse routine since the London Olympics.

The Strictly Come Dancing star told me he's been struggling to be taken seriously since announcing his comeback, but demonstrated perfect poise and sublime strength to gain England some valuable team points (15.7) and prove he is a serious medal contender here in Glasgow.

"Former world silver medallist Dan Keatings - who won European pommel horse gold in 2013 - is vital to Scottish hopes of success in the gymnastics events, but he can produce little more than a forced smile after scoring 14.533 on the pommel.

"He's capable of far more and with England's 2014 European gold medallist Max Whitlock and Olympic silver medallist Louis Smith to come you'd suspect Scotland have lost some valuable ground to their biggest rivals."

"England's Max Whitlock may be the European champion on the floor but it's team-mate Sam Oldham who has the crowd waving their St George's flags with a dazzling display.

"The 20-year-old is such a strong all-around gymnast and one of the reasons why Louis Smith may find it tough to make the Rio Olympics, should he decide to continue in the sport after these Games."

Andrew Baggaley sees off two match points, but the third is the charm for Jian Zhan as he lures the Englishman into the net to tie up an 11-4 11-8 11-9 win. The top seeds and defending champions Singapore win gold and there is a fair bit of relief in their celebrations.

They have looked the best team in the competition and proved it when it matters. Silver for England, bronze for Nigeria.

Australia see out a comfortable win to take their record to fours wins out of four, 25 goals scored and none conceded.

Only an overturned decision via video referral prevented Australia winning 4-0. England take on Scotland in their final group match, which could decided who qualifies in second place.

We have heard it 11 times before at this Commonwealth Games, but the 12th playing of 'Flower of Scotland' is a significant one.

It means Scotland have now won more gold medals at Glasgow 2014 than they had done at any previous Commonwealth Games. The landmark is reached with Paul Foster and Alex Marshall's emphatic victory in the lawn bowls pairs competition earlier today.

There is also another landmark in sight for Scotland as well as their best ever Commonwealth Games medal haul is 33. They are currently on 31.

"Ice cream sales are going through the roof outside the Clyde Auditorium, yet the queue to gain entry to the building otherwise known as 'The Armadillo' is just as long.

"A cheer breaks out as England's 15-year-old weightlifter Rebekah Tiler appears from behind the curtain to inspect the surroundings ahead of the 69kg Group A final.

"The Keighley schoolgirl responds with a wave and a smile. If she's nervous, she's doing a fine job hiding it. Can she become one of the faces of the Games? We're about to find out." Watch live coverage of the weightlifting here.

Andrew Baggaley of England is fighting to keep England's hopes of a team gold medal alive against Singapore.

So far it is opponent Jian Zhan who has been more clinical though.

With his side 2-1 up overall in the first-to-three contest, Zhan is two games to love ahead, 11-4 11-8.

It is a long, long way back for England.

"Chris and Gabby Adcock have made a positive start to their mixed teams gold medal match against Malaysia pair Peng Soon Chan and Lai Pei Jing by winning the first game 21-14.

"In that first game you need to produce a mature and confident start and Chris has already hit some thundering shots. They are justifying their tag as favourites at the moment and I think it will be all done in two sets."
