Victor Obeya:, external Blessing Okagbare is indeed a blessing to Nigeria. I pray Usain Bolt marries you. No-one will catch your children when it comes to racing. Nice one dear.

Rebecca Hodson:, external Fantastic to see so many young athletes in the home nations coming through. For me, the best was the gymnastics action - loved seeing Daniel Keatings get his gold on the pommel, along with Max Whitlock and Louis Smith in silver and bronze. Fantastic moment.

Scotland's Eilidh Child, who won Commonwealth silver in the women's 400m hurdles on Thursday evening, speaking on BBC Breakfast: "The hurdles is a very technical event and that race was bang on, it was one of my better ones. Coming into the last hurdle I knew I had to attack it. I could see I was second but my legs were starting to go a bit.

"I ran the heat on Tuesday and the crowd was so loud that I had prepared myself for the final and it going up an extra notch. Knowing all the cheers are for you gives you that extra adrenaline.

"To win the silver was amazing. There were so many emotions going on; relief, happiness. There was a bit more pressure on me but when I ran I forgot about that. I was just doing what I always do and running my race and was delighted I could win the medal."

Less than an hour after Nijel Amos had ambushed David Rudisha in the 800m, the Hampden Park crowd were treated to the second half of a sprint double from Nigeria's Blessing Okagbare.

The Nigerian followed up her 100m success with a commanding performance in the 200m, winning in a time of 22.25 seconds as the 25-year-old further underlined her credentials as the biggest threat to Jamaica's raft of top-class female sprint stars.

Behind her the English duo Jodie Williams and Bianca Williams, 20 and 21, respectively, finished second and third in promising personal best performances.

The organisers have scheduled a Friday night full of big-hitting, seat-filling action for you to welcome in the weekend.

England's Tom Daley and Jamaica's one-man headline generator Usain Bolt have more than six million Twitter followers between them and probably have had as many inches of newspaper copy dedicated to them.

Both make their Glasgow 2012 bows tonight and will be big news whatever they do.

Daley goes in the men's synchronised 10m platform final at 19:19 BST while Bolt stretches out for the first time in the 4x100m relay heats at 21:35BST.

England's gold-plated pocket dynamo goes in the individual finals of the beam and floor at 14:46 BST and 16:23 BST respectively.

Should Fragapane repeat her successes in the all-around, team and vault, she would move level with Canada's rhythmic gymnast Patricia Bezzoubenko as the most successful athlete at the Games in terms of gold medals.

Five golds would also be more than all but 10 nations have managed in the Games.

England's Claudia Fragapane could finish today with her fifth gold medal of the Games.

That would be half a kilo of medal hanging off her four foot six inch, six and a half stone frame.

And from the form she has shown so far, health and safety regulations look the likeliest thing to stop he adding to her neckwear collection.
