Three penalty corners, three shots on goal and a key Grace Balsdon finish have England in control.

Balsdon, just 24, is one of only three players to start here who didn’t win Olympic gold In 2016. In fact, when she didn’t make the squad she transferred to go and play in the US during university study. She’s back with a bang and proving this England side isn’t just about the Olympic champions as she nets the opener.

Susannah Townsend doubles the lead after 20 minutes. A healthy crowd in this 5,000 seat arena too, which is a good sign so early in the tournament. Australia play after this game so that should be interesting.
