Non Stanford hasn't had quite the winter's running that she would have liked and it is still quite early in the season. She doesn't seem to quite have the fitness she would have liked to have had by this point.

We haven't seen any threat from this chase pack, however, and Jess Learmonth will be hoping to continue her run home for silver.

Learmonth is holding on to silver.

Fellow English athlete Vicky Holland is currently in bronze. Can they pair hold on?

If you’ve never visited the Gold Coast, I’ll sum up early observations in three words: clean, friendly, expensive.

Two bedroom flats around here are going for north of £500,000. And there in lies part of this area’s history.

The area was originally called South Coast but in the 1950s as money flowed in through the Brisbane elite who holidayed here, journalists nicknamed it the Gold Coast. At first this was seen as flippant but as time went on, local authorities just went with it and eventually renamed the area.

What would you rename your town for it to fit its status?

Speaking of Nile Wilson, I saw the gymnast in a well-known greetings card shop in Leeds on Valentines Day earlier this year.

I think we were both struggling to choose.

That's my example of a time I met a Commonwealth Games athlete. Have you got any stories to tell? The more random the better.

Don't forget the early stages of the men's team artistic gymnastics are under way which also doubles as qualification for the individual events.

This is currently section three with the English team featuring Max Whitlock and Nile Wilson among others to come later in section three.

Jersey's Daniel Lee has made a decent start and is third after three disciplines so far.

    You can watch that here.

This would be quite a shock in the women's hockey. Wales are ranked 16 places lower than India in the world rankings and are the lowest ranked team in their pool.

This is all going swimmingly for world champion Flora Duffy of Bermuda. Duffy and Jess Learmonth's lead over the chasing pack has increased by another couple of seconds at the front at the end of their third lap of the bike.

England's Learmonth is sticking with the Bermudan but her weakest discipline is the run.

All signs seem to be pointing to an historic Bermudan gold here.

Some calls are being made back to the office here in the triathlon press tent by local journalists with the news that hurdler and all-round hometown golden girl Sally Pearson has called a media conference for 13:00 local time.

Pearson, who has been struggling with an Achilles' tendon problem, seems likely to announce her withdrawal from the Games.

I think that story is going to trump coverage of the men's race.

Yep, as I type the man opposite is unplugging his laptop and heading for the door.

England's Vicky Holland and Wales' Non Stanford have worked their way to the front of the pack chasing down Learmonth and Duffy.

Holland and Stanford were regarded as the home nations' best hopes of a medal in this women's triathlon but they have work to do.

The gap is 57 seconds at the end of lap two. That's big. England's Jessica Learmonth is in with a great chance of a medal here.

It's a two-horse race at the moment, there's no sighting of the other athletes in this.

Jess Learmonth went out so hard in the swim and I think she realised that if she wants to win a medal here she had to get rid of the faster runners. It's a very intelligent start.
