Gold Medal - Scotlandpublished at 05:56 British Summer Time 13 April 2018

    Men's fours

Drama! Scotland win. Alex Marshall is Scotland's most successful Commonwealth Games athlete.

Alex Marshall bowls a shocker of a penultimate bowl. He has his hands on his head after handing Australia an opportunity to clear everything out.

Up steps the Aussie with a relatively straight forward shot in front of him but he misses! That leaves Scotland sitting four and they overturn a two-shot deficit going in to the final end to win.

A reminder if Scotland win this. Alex Marshall becomes the Scotland's most successful Commonwealth Games athlete...

The Aussies fire with their penultimate bowl but miss their target. Scotland are lying three. They are snatching gold if it stays like this.

A much better game from Alan Clyne and Greg Lobban. The Scotland duo take their quarter-final against Malaysia's Mohammad Syafiq Kamal and Eain Yow Ng into a decider.

A bit of The Proclaimers pumps out in Oxenford Studios. It's a sign. The Scots are going to walk (500 miles) to victory...

A huge shout of "come on" from someone in a broad Scottish accent. A brilliant shot from Derek Oliver. He takes Scotland from two down to two up.

Scotland need to overturn their two-shot deficit here. Three bowls left each.

    Scotland 11-13 Australia

The officials go with Australia after some precise measuring. Australia lead 13-11 over Scotland in this gold medal match going into the last end but Alex Marshall will have the last bowl.

"Let's go Aussie, let's go," chant the crowd.

The officials are here again. This is tight. Is the Scottish wood closer or is it the yellow Aussie one?

I think this is one to Australia.

This is crucial. If Australia get this they are two up in the last end. If Scotland get it it's a one end shootout.

Mixed results for Northern Ireland from the boxing venue as Brendan Irvine beats Scotland’s Reece McFadden on split decision.

One bout later though, James McGivern loses to India’s Manish Kaushik. McGivern sinks to his knees when the result is read.

Bronze for him and no more.

    Scotland 11-12 Australia

I started these Games having not live-text once on a bowls match. I'll end it having described three matches which have all gone down to the final end. Who knew bowls could get this tense? Not me and I kid you not I have a former Great Britain champion in the family.

Scotland's Paul Foster is getting pinker and pinker as this goes on. Someone get that man some sun cream.

There are two bowls left each in this end. Scotland and Australia have a bowl each pretty much equidistant to the jack. Tight.

Not only do Scotland need a fightback in the bowls, they also need one on the squash court. Alan Clyne and Greg Lobban lose the first game, going down at the death to lose 11-9.

On the other court at Oxenford Studios, England have created an almighty upset! Daryl Selby and Adrian Waller have pinched the decider against Aussie world champions Ryan Cuskelly and Cameron Pilley.

Selby and Waller will face compatriots James Willstrop and Declan James in the last four.

There are definitely a few more concerned Australian faces following that end. There are three of the Aussie team stooped over near the group of bowls, intensely staring as another comes down the rink.

It's a cautious end from both quartets and Scotland nick another one. They have won four of the last five ends now. Just one in it with two to play!

    Back in it!

Is this a three for Scotland in the 12th end? If it is they'll be back to just one behind.

The officials are on their knees with a tape measure. It's really close between a Scottish and Australian wood.

Oooof. It's the yellow Aussie one - just. Still two to Scotland though. Three ends left. Just two in it again now.

Ahhh. Alex Marshall slumps at the end of the rink.

Scotland are in a good position in this latest end but the Scot unintentionally nudges an Australian wood closer to the jack. The Aussies take another one from the end and they're buzzing around the green again, high-fiving each other. The hosts lead by four with four ends left. Alex Marshall looks like he'll have to wait another four years for that record-breaking gold.

We are about to see a home nations semi-final as Scotland’s Reece McFadden takes on Brendan Irvine of Northern Ireland.

McFadden is a bundle of energy but he will be the smaller man here and that rand could be key.

The winner will face an Indian opponent in the final as Gaurav Solanki just scored a points win despite being dropped in an absolute barnstormer.

Hello! All of a sudden Scotland are four up in the 10th end with one Australian bowl remaining. Can the Aussies salvage something? If not we're back level.

... Here we go. Aussie skip Aron Sherriff is going to fire this down as quick as he can.

It works. Bowls are fired all over the shop. Scotland still take one but Australia maintain their comfortable lead.
