Watch: Australia's 'magnificent' goalpublished at 00:43 British Summer Time 13 April 2018
Hockey
One of my personal highlights of yesterday's action was this sensational volley from Australia in the hockey.
These are some serious tekkers...
Diving: England's Jack Laugher wins third gold of Games in 3m synchro springboard, alongside Chris Mears
Tom Daley & Dan Goodfellow take 10m synchro gold; Scotland's Grace Reid wins 1m springboard
Athletics: England's Katarina Johnson-Thompson wins heptathlon, bronze for team-mate Niamh Emerson
Bowls: Alex Marshall sets gold record as Scots win fours
Basketball: England women shock Canada to reach final
Hockey: England men beaten by Australia in semi-final
Wrestling: Wales' Kane Charig gets 65kg silver; bronze for England's Charlie Bowling
Caroline Chapman
Hockey
One of my personal highlights of yesterday's action was this sensational volley from Australia in the hockey.
These are some serious tekkers...
Scotland 10-1 Canada - women's pairs
Lesley Doig, like an efficient handyman, has a tape measure in her back pocket, whipping it out at the end of the fifth end to see if Scotland have won another end.
They haven't - but it doesn't matter. Because they've already won four in this end!
Scotland are absolutely flying. Canada... well... they look out of their depth here.
Table Tennis
The table tennis quarter-finals are just getting under way. England's Paul Drinkhall and Liam Pitchford are up first in the men's doubles last eight. They play Gao Ning and Pang Xue Jie from Singapore.
You can watch it here.
Scotland 6-1 Canada - women's pairs
No wonder Claire Johnston and Lesley Doig are high-fiving in the Gold Coast breeze. They're blowing away their Canadian opponents Kelly McKerihen and Leanee Chinery in these opening stages.
Scotland's finest are already five points clear after four ends.
Athletics
This Commonwealth Games has had a bit of everything and that continued on day eight with a controversial men's 200m final.
England's Zharnel Hughes led for much of the race but was disqualified after he stumbled in the closing stages and his left arm made contact with Trinidad & Tobago's Jereem Richards in the next lane.
Watch below.
While we wait for the athletics to get cracking in about half an hour, let's have a quick look back at yesterday's highlights from the Carrara Stadium.
English sprinter Zharnel Hughes might not want to watch it back...
Scotland 3-1 Canada - women's pairs
Alison's lad will be buzzing when he watches these first few ends - it's been a high standard from both sides so far.
A good mix of experience and youth in this Scottish pair. Thirty-nine-year-old Claire Johnston won mixed pairs gold at the 2017 World Indoor Championships, while 26-year-old Lesley Doig won singles silver and pairs bronze at the 2016 World Outdoor Championships.
Canada claw one back in the third end. Loooong way to go though. There are 18 ends to be played with the highest score taking the gold bling.

Alison Hopper: Staying up to catch and record #lawnbowls, external for 12-year-old bowls mad son. In a club final on Sunday so he's picking up tips!
Simon H: Hate to say it but the shot put attempts by Katarina Johnson-Thompson were just pathetic. She needs some aggression to win on the world stage, luckily for her it's a weak field in the #CommonwealthGames, external
Scotland 3-0 Canada - women's pairs
Plenty to liven up the crowd so far at the Broadbeach Bowls Club. And that's not because some Calvin Harris tune is being pumped out by the DJ.
Scotland have found their groove straight away, extending their lead with a nifty single in the second end.

Alan Martin: Thought Tom Daley withdrew from the competition through injury ....
Daley pulled out of the individual competition but is still competing in the synchronised event as the dives are less "dangerous". Read more here.
Scotland 2-0 Canada - women's pairs
No time for hanging about at the Broadbeach Bowls Club - the medal action has already started.
Scotland's Claire Johnston and Lesley Doig are under way in the women's pairs as they look to clinch bronze. Standing in their way are Canada pair Kelly McKerihen and Leanee Chinery.
Scotland are out of the traps quickest, taking a double in the opening end to lead.
A friendly reminder that we have a mountain of live action for you to choose from tonight.
To paraphrase Mark Renton... Choose bowls. Choose table tennis. Chose rhythmic gymnastics. Choose diving.
Choose your future. Choose life.

Sarah Gill: #CommonwealthGames2018, external is just rubbing in how rubbish UK weather is right now #NeedAHoliday, external
Wayne Martin: #bbcgoldcoast, external@JJChalmersRM, external settling down for my nightly JJ fix.
What about this JJ, Wayne?!
Day nine
08:31: Lawn bowls - men's singles medal matches. Scotland's Darren Burnett is defending his title on the Gold Coast, where his rivals include young Australian talent Aaron Wilson.
11:13: Athletics - heptathlon 800m. Having claimed her first global senior title in March with gold at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham, England's Katarina Johnson-Thompson will hope to be racing for Commonwealth glory in the seventh and final event. Johnson-Thompson has long been tipped as London 2012 gold medallist Jessica Ennis-Hill's heir apparent - gold here would actually set her apart from the three-time world champion, who earned bronze in her only Commonwealth Games in 2006.
11:17: Women's rugby sevens - Australia v England. The pool stage gets underway with title favourites and Olympic champions Australia facing England.
11:40: Athletics - women's 800m final. Caster Semenya is strongly fancied to win a first Commonwealth Games title, although podium places behind the reigning world and Olympic champion are up for grabs.
12:07: Diving - men's synchronised 3m springboard. Jack Laugher and Chris Mears considered retirement after becoming Britain's first Olympic diving champions in Rio, but they're back on track and odds-on to retain their Commonwealth crown.
And that's just for starters...
Whether you're staying up or getting up, here's what is coming up through the night on the Gold Coast.
Hello! How are we all? Good? Lovely jubbly.
Just the 27 gold medals to be dished out in Australia today - here's what you need to keep tabs on...
Sport geeks, night-shift workers, new parents, insomniacs... hello! Missed any other group out? If so, hello to you as well!
We're not quite on the home straight of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, probably just racing around the bend.
We've got Tom Daley. We've got Katarina Johnson-Thompson. We've got Caster Semenya.
Welcome to day nine!
