India are well set to make it a double success in these opening semi-finals. Kidami Srikanth only needs 12 minutes to clinch the first game against England's Rajiv Ouseph, winning it 21-10.

Ouseph, the silver medallist at Delhi 2010, has his work cut out here...

The attacks are still coming in the road race. Uganda's Jean Claude Uwizeye is the latest to try break clear.

It's about the third time he's tried, will he be lucky? It's looking unlikely he'll make it on his own and he is joined by seven other riders, with five others trying to bridge the gap.

Will this baker's dozen finally snap the elastic attaching them to the peloton?

If Kidami Srikanth winning India's Sportsman of the Year (see 4.21 entry) didn't stress to you how big a deal badminton is in India then here's another sensational stat to prove it: female counterpart Saina Nehwal has 7.33 MILLION followers on Twitter.

Her semi-final opponent, Scotland's Kirsty Gilmour, has 5,000 in comparison. However, Commonwealth titles aren't won on social media.

Unfortunately Gilmour is second best on the court too... she loses the first game 21-14 in this best-of-three match.

    HT: Australia 0-1 New Zealand

Well, well, well, what do we have here then?

Hosts Australia may be the overwhelming favourites for the gold, but New Zealand have had the better of the opportunities in the first half.

And they go into the break a goal to the good in the women's gold medal match after Shiloh Gloyn scored for the Kiwis minutes before half-time.

Remarkably, it's the first goal in open-play they've scored in the competition since last Friday (April 6).

It might have been a long time coming, but it's very much deserved.

England captain Alex Danson hailed her side's attitude after their 6-0 win over India to claim bronze.

"It was a resilient performance," she said. "It's a relief when you've done the work at home, and you've got the tactics and the ability."

"This performance shows the grit that we're about. Sport is challenging, sport is tough. The best athletes are the most resilient, that's why I am so proud of this team. "

Srikanth races into a 13-8 lead in the first of three games.

It’s not all glamour. Lisa Whiteside tells me she has to now see the doctor for the shiner on her eye and that’s after an anti-doping protocol.

Grace Reid is still all smiles despite admitting she only had about four hours sleep following her historic 1m gold for Scotland last night.

The 21-year-old, who is Scotland’s first female diving Commonwealth medallist and the first Scott to claim gold in the sport for 60 years, eased through the 3m preliminaries this morning.

"Everyone was so excited and I was getting so many messages but I have to forget about that now," she tells me.

"It does give me confidence going into the 3m final later as I know I’m in a good place but it’s a new competition now and I have to completely refocus and hopefully come back with something big later."

Paige Murney fights back the tears in her BBC Sport interview. The lip was trembling I can tell you.

She explains she has only taken on a more full-time role with GB Boxing in the last eight weeks.

“I quit my part-time job eight weeks ago. So if you told me a year ago I’d just be able to focus on my boxing, I’d have taken it. This was only my 11th international fight. I’ll take the silver but I’m coming for those golds.”

Experience told in the end but it seems Murney’s journey is just beginning. To Tokyo 2020 it is...

Dani Rowe competed for England at Glasgow 2014 but couldn't be happier to win bronze for Wales today.

The 2012 Olympic gold medallist switched allegiance after moving to Wales five years ago and marrying husband Matt Rowe - brother of Luke, who is currently out in the men's road race.

“I feel like I’ve been waiting a long time for a bit of success. I’ve been working hard on the road for a few years now. Absolutely amazing to have a Commonwealth Games bronze medal.”

“Every single girl was absolutely amazing out there today. Really committed to their job on the road. So it’s not just my medal - it’s all of the girls’.”

“I feel like an honorary Welsh girl. I’ve been living there for over five years now. It’s been absolutely incredible. It means so much to fly the flag for Wales so I hope they’ll all welcome me back when I get back to Cardiff!”

She's picked a good Games to join Team Wales. That's now 30 medals altogether - with three more guaranteed in tonight's boxing finals.

They lost the first of their three-game semi-final but have fought back to win 15-21 21-16 21-15 against defending champions Tan Wee Kiong and Goh Shem.

Ellis crashes to the floor in pure delight, Langridge covers his face as a mixture of tears and sweat dribble down his cheeks.
