    Women's 4x100m relay

The final of the 4x100m women's relay is next up on the track.

England, in lane five, have half of the quartet who won world silver for Great Britain last summer – 200m Commonwealth bronze medallist Dina Asher-Smith and 100m finalist Asha Philip – plus Bianca Williams, who was sixth in the 200m.

Elaine Thompson wasn't listed for defending champions Jamaica - but she's down on the track.

    England v Jamaica

Hello to everyone who set their alarms for 6am as I instructed...

This is the one you've been waiting for.

England take on Jamaica in the netball semi-finals - and the Roses are attempting to make their first ever Commonwealth Games final.

England have a 3-2 record against the Sunshine Girls at the Games, so this one will be tight.

England and Jamaica are going through some pretty vigorous warm-up drills ahead of the semi-final.

Jamaica also won the coin toss to decide which way they would shoot, although with a crowd full of Aussie green and gold fans I’m not too sure a toss was needed.

Jamaica captain Jhaniele Fowler-Reid has had a tremendous Games with a 93% shooting accuracy record - no wonder when she’s 6ft 6ins!

    Well, this is pretty astonishing.

The walls of the Carrara media centre are plastered with some of the snappers' best work, and, to my uneducated eye, the pick is this shot of Australia 10,000m man Stewart McSweyn.

It looks like the sort of thing a glossy Sunday magazine would spend three hours of studio time, hair, make-up and lighting people to capture.

And Dean Lewins of AAP bagged it all in an instant while the subject was cantering past at 13 miles an hour.

England gel well as a team, they enjoy relays and they've done a phenomenal job in this race.

This was won by Zharnel Hughes down the back straight. It was electric and was such a silky exchange to Richard Kilty.

This squad really enjoy working together and they have delivered. It is all the time they spend practising with each other. It's really difficult to get in the England 4x100m relay team because there is real competition for places.

Heartbreak for Kirsty Gilmour. After taking Indian golden girl Saina Nehwal to a decider, the Scot runs out of steam and falls to a 14-21 21-18 17-21 defeat in their semi-final.

A bronze-medal match against defending champion Michelle Li of Canada or India's Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu awaits.

Sindhu is looking to avenge a semi-final defeat by Li at Glasgow 2014.

England's Tom Stewart, Guernsey's James McLaughlin and Joseph Areyura of Rwanda have extended their lead over a chasing group of six riders that include England's Harry Tanfield and Dylan Kerfoot-Robson of Wales.

The peloton crosses the line three minutes, 45 seconds behind the leaders. They have 70km left to bring this all back together.

Zharnel Hughes with a sensational second leg as Harry Aikines-Aryeetey brought it home.

South Africa take second after a storming final leg from Akani Simbine - who won the individual 100m title.

    England v Jamaica

    Anna Thompson
BBC Sport on the Gold Coast

The preliminary netball matches were all played about a two minute walk from the BBC’s offices in Broadbeach but now we’re getting down to the business end, the semi-finals and final have been moved an hour away to the bigger capacity Coomera indoor sports stadium.

We’ve been stuck in traffic with families heading home after the Easter break and it’s fair to say the media bus driver has pretty much had his fill of the Commonwealth Games after 10 days of driving to the various venues.

He’s got to work at the closing ceremony on Sunday then he says it’s a two-day drive back home!

A hat can be very effective protection from the Australian sun.

But just because it is sensible doesn't mean they have to be boring.

Troy, Noah, Haylee and Simone Gillam have come armed with home-decorated sombreros to bring a little bit of Mexico into the Commonwealth.

Troy shrugs off the journey as "just a couple of hours up the coast". Noah wearily suggests it was "at least three".

I think everyone is pleased to be out the car.

England’s Matty Lee was selected for, but ultimately missed the last Commonwealth Games after undergoing elbow surgery, but finally made his debut this morning during the individual 10m platform preliminaries.

The 20-year-old will be in the final later, but is struggling with an injury which is why he was well below his best - only qualifying with the eighth highest score.

"I’ve had an almost perfect build up but then I picked up this triceps injury," Lee, who has ice strapped to his right arm, tells me.

"It was frustrating today as I know it (better scores) are there but the injury is having an impact. I just have to try and do the best I can in the final because finally making my Commonwealth debut means so much and this is something I’ve been dreaming about for so long."

Ahhh, darn. Our hopes of an all-British final in the men's doubles are over.

Scotland's Alan Clyne and Greg Lobban, the 2016 world champions, lose 2-0 to Australia's Zac Alexander and David Palmer.

Palmer has more bling than your favourite rapper: the 41-year-old has already won eight Commonwealth medals and is assured of at least another silver.

Clyne and Lobban, meanwhile, take on England's James Willstrop and Declan James.

    Q4: Australia 1-4 New Zealand

Disaster for Australia, euphoria for New Zealand!

The hosts decided to take off their keeper for the last few minutes of the game to give themselves an extra outfield player, but the plan has back-fired spectacularly as New Zealand have scored from a penalty corner to make it 1-4.

The Kiwi women have won Commonwealth gold for the first time ever with a convincing win over their Trans-Tasman rivals.
