    Women's bronze medal match

England face India for the bronze medal at the Gold Coast Hockey Centre (01:30 BST).

They'll need to bounce back from an agonising shootout loss to New Zealand in the semi-final, which cost them a shot at gold.

The English will also want to keep up their impressive record of winning a medal at every Commonwealth Games since hockey was introduced 20 years ago.

The English lads weren't the only ones celebrating gold in the diving pool yesterday. Scotland's Grace Reid won the women's 1m springboard, claiming second diving medal of the Games.

Her success follows Heatly winning Scotland's first Commonwealth diving medal since 1958 with bronze in the men's 1m springboard.

  7. Ashton caught at lastpublished at 00:11 British Summer Time 14 April 2018

    Road cycling

There's a brief dash off the front of the peloton by Anna Christian of the Isle of Man. That sparks a flurry of activity behind her.

The attack comes to naught but it does finally erase the advantage of long-time leader Kimberley Ashton.

The Jersey rider drops into the middle of the pack and casts a sideways glance to the TV camera, puffs out her cheeks, stretches her legs and takes a moment to reflect on her efforts so far.

    60km remaining.

  8. Ashton hanging on to leadpublished at 00:01 British Summer Time 14 April 2018

    Road cycling

Kimberley Ashton has found a second wind and the peloton has again eased its efforts slightly.

And that adds up to Ashton extending her lead out to around 30 seconds again.

But once more she toils on an incline and the bunch returns to within shouting distance. It's almost cruel this, leaving Ashton out there on her own.

    65km remaining.

Scotland have defied expectations to reach the last four, where they face defending champions Australia.

Scotland’s new coach Rob Beveridge is an Aussie and has coached 11 of the 12 players in the Boomers squad.

He says of the hosts: “Anything less than gold for them is failure. It’s a scary thing to try to put a game plan together against Australia because they’re an F1 car and we’re a V8…but we’re here to get on the podium.”

  14. Peloton catching Ashtonpublished at 23:36 British Summer Time 13 April 2018

    Road cycling

Kimberley Ashton's lead is being whittled away at an incredible speed. The Jersey rider's time out front looks to be nearing an end.

She sucks on an energy gel, casts a glance over her right shoulder and can see the peloton not too far behind her. In fact, the lead is down to 20 seconds.

Ashton looked to be toiling on the previous incline and will soon be caught.

    80km remaining.

  16. Haston abandons road racepublished at 23:24 British Summer Time 13 April 2018

    Road cycling

Scotland's Louise Haston is the first rider to abandon the race. She crosses the start-finish line at the end of lap one some three minutes behind the race leader.

She looks a little tearful as she pulls off to the right. You may recall Haston won two silver medals on the track at Glasgow 2014 as tandem pilot to Aileen McGlynn in the sprint and kilo races.

    Team England win more medals

England's Jack Laugher secured a third gold medal of the Commonwealth Games on the day Dan Goodfellow and Tom Daley won the synchronised 10m platform.

Laugher, already 1m and 3m springboard champion, and Chris Mears added to their 2016 Olympic gold in the men's synchronised 3m springboard event.

Matthew Dixon and Noah Williams took silver behind Daley and Goodfellow.

  20. Ashton extends road race leadpublished at 23:14 British Summer Time 13 April 2018

    Road cycling

There's a bit of a hiatus in the peloton. Everyone is looking to the Australians, as the most powerful team, to close down the gap, which is now out to more than a minute.

But the ladies in the gold and green are playing a canny game and appear to be saying to their rivals, if you want to go for it, fill your boots.

With 95km remaining, they are content to let Kimberley Ashton tire herself out before mounting their challenge.

Scotland's Louise Haston is also out of the peloton. Sadly for here though, she is out the back with a rider from Belize and faces a long haul to catch up.
