    Badminton: Mixed doubles final

    Hold on a minute...

Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith aren't giving this one up any time soon.

They have moved to within three points of Gabby and Chris Adcock, bringing the game back to 18-16 in the deciding game, despite previously finding themselves eight points behind.

The closing stages are going to be rather interesting.

    Women’s doubles bronze-medal match

Here is some meat on the bones of the squash.

Sarah-Jane Perry already has a silver medal to take back on the flight to Blighty from the singles - can she get a bronze to go with it in the women's doubles? She's partnered by veteran Laura Massaro, who is unable to match the silvers she won in Delhi and Glasgow.

They are up against Australia’s Rachael Grinham and Donna Urquhart, who won bronze at last year’s World Championships.

    Men's marathon

Into the final quarter of the men's marathon... Callum Hawkins is streaking clear. The Scot has got a healthy lead of 41 seconds as he closes in on a first major medal.

Suppose it's no surprise - marathon running is in the 25-year-old's genes. Dad Robert is a national coach in Scottish Athletics, while brother Derek is also a GB marathon runner.

Is there anyway back for Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith in this?

The Adcock's, gold medallists in 2014, are really asserting themselves now and have rushed into an 11-3 lead in the third and final game.

This would be some comeback from Ellis and Smith.

Jamine Joyce and Sioned Harries with tries for Wales in the first half, but Kenya hit back on the half-time hooter through Janet Okelo.

She chips the ball in behind and collects her own kick to dot down for her third try of the weekend. Conversion is good too for Kenya.

It all comes down to a third game decider between the two English pairs.

Australia's Lisa Weightman comes in 43 seconds behind Johannes, the 39-year-old improving on the bronze she won in Delhi eight years ago.

Team-mate Jess Trengove has to settle for the bronze, as she did at Glasgow 2014.

Helalia Johannes, Namibia's flag-carrier at the opening ceremony, is all out on her own as she takes the bend into the final straight... she's done it!

That's her first medal at a major champoionship. Johannes makes a cross as she slows down and then drops to the ground as emotion gets the better of her.

    HT: Scotland 35-41 New Zealand

Scotland have done a good job to stay in this game - they're currently only shooting at 27% from three pointers.

They go into half time just six points adrift of the Tall Blacks.

The Scots are huge underdogs for this bronze medal, but they're still in with a shot here.

The second game is turning into another very close contest, though Gabby and Chris Adcock have just edged ahead 11-10 at the interval.

Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith did hold a four-point lead at one stage but the Adcocks staged a crucial fight back.

Can they turn this around against their compatriots?

Wonder how many caps Callum Hawkins goes through per race? One every 2k or so by my reckoning. Good job they aren't expensive ones.

Gaps are starting to appear among the frontrunners now, including between Scot Hawkins and Uganda's Munyo Solomon Mutai behind him in second.

Oh, hang on... Kenya's Sheila Jerotich has faded. That's the beauty of the marathon, things can change very quickly.

Jerotich looked the most relaxed of the quartet, by her facial expression at least. But it's not in there, it's in the legs.

Johannes is the frontrunner, Australia's Lisa Weightman just behind. Into the final 5k now...

I don't think they're listening though and the Tall Blacks have opened up a nine-point advantage in the second quarter.

The Scots are only two of eight from the field in the second period. Not the sort of stats you want to see.

England are guaranteed gold and silver in the mixed doubles final but which way will it go?

On paper, defending champions and world bronze medal-winning married couple Gabby and Chris Adcock are the favourites, but new pairing Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith have been fantastic at this event.

Both Ellis and Smith are in respective men’s doubles and women’s doubles finals later as well, so it’ll be an intense day - and it’s been a fascinating opening game!

Ellis and Smith have taken it after a real fight back with the Adcocks having been in the stronger position for much of that game.
