It was interesting to hear Adam Peaty talk about the spark because he is such a racer. What else has he got to achieve - what is next?

If I am winning medals and breaking world records what is that spark? I think that is what he is referring to about what he is missing.

That comes with not really knowing what the target is.

This for him is an opportunity to think: "OK, I am beatable, set-backs can happen."

He has never even been injured before, he has never had to deal with anything like that. It is important now to have that break and just have that winter training under his belt.

Scotland women have raced into a 4-0 lead over Kenya in women's hockey Pool B and we haven't even reached the end of the first quarter yet.

More from Adam Peaty speaking to BBC TV: "It's incredibly difficult to go five years in an Olympic cycle with the pressure of being Olympic champion, and world record holder, while having a baby and moving house.

"These are not normal things. It's not normal for the brain to be going 24/7, 365, because that is what it is, and more.

"Something has gone missing this last two years. I just haven't felt the spark in it and I think sometimes you can get burnout from the sport that you do love.

"So, it's like how do we find our spark again for the next two years into Paris. If we go beyond that, then we go beyond that, but if we don't - happy days."

Adam Peaty, speaking to BBC TV: "This morning I didn't even do a warm-up, I wasn't that bothered. I had two hours sleep.

"Obviously it was a devastating night for me. So it is good to come in here this morning, getting it out there and hopefully improve through the rounds.

"It takes time to reflect and heal and push on. I've been doing 50s all my life but then I thought that about the 100m so I am not going to get complacent. After the 50m tomorrow I am going to take a long break and completely reset, have a strong winter.

"I haven't had a strong winter for two years and it is showing obviously dancing a little bit as well you really have to got back to the drawing board and go back to basics. It has got very complicated in the last two years but I know what I have to do now."

It was just about blowing away the cobwebs and seeing how he has recovered. When your fitness isn't there your body takes that much more of a hit so it will take you longer to recover. He seemed pretty pleased at the end and loves the crowd.

It's hard yards for Adam Peaty. He's got to dig deep for this competition now. Good to see him competing for first place there but he was pushed all the way.

This is the one major race Peaty in lane four is yet to win and his fourth place over 100m suggests he isn't quite tip top after recovering from the broken foot that ruled him out of the Worlds.

Still he comes home in joint first here and will advance to the semi-finals.

Wales have missed out on a bronze medal in the women's team table tennis, losing to Australia 3-0.

Jian Fang Lay won the final singles match three sets to love against Carlotte Carey to complete a dominant win as Wales finish fourth.

Before we get to Adam Peaty, the 100m breaststroke champion James Wilby is up..

And he goes through with a steady swim to finish in behind Australia's Grayson Bell.

Scotland are through to the para-lawn bowls men's pairs B6-B8 final after beating New Zealand 18-10.

They'll face Australia who defeated England 17-4 in their semi-final.

And in the women's pairs B6-B8 semi-final Scotland have just beaten England 17-10 and are likely to face Australia who are leading South Africa 18-12 in the closing stages.

Right it's Adam Peaty time.

He finished out of the medals over 100m on Sunday but is the clear favourite in the men's 50m breaststroke.

Callum Bennett is through in the men's -60kg category. It took him just over two minutes beat Thomas Mewnda of Tanzania.

His team-mate Daniel Rabbitt is also through after defeating Zeo Agudoo in his last-32 encounter.

He will now face Scotland's David Ferguson in the last 16.

Fellow Scots Finlay Allan and Alexander Short have also advanced this morning along with Northern Ireland's Nathon Burns in the men's -66kg category.

Wales' Greg Varey has also made it through in his last-16 encounter.

It was only about 12 hours ago that Charlotte Carey was trying to secure a place in the final for Wales.

Their defeat to Malaysia - which went to a deciding game after three-and-a-half hours - would have been so tough to take.

A tight turnaround to go again for bronze this morning.

They had to battle for it but Wales eventually broke through to beat a spirited Ghana 4-0 and get their first win of the games.

It was 0-0 at half-time but once Wales got one, they quickly got three more. Next up, Scotland women take on Kenya at 11:00 BST.
