The right-handed Mahmudullah is the new man in at four for Bangladesh, who need to rebuild a touch here. Mirwais's figures are looking more than impressive at this stage.

"It looked like it was 50-50 on impact, and whether it was hitting the top of the stumps, but on the very first replay I thought it looked high. I'm not being disrespectful to people lacking in height, but Anamul Haque is only 5ft 7ins and it hit him above the knee-roll, maybe that's why it looked high. Good decision - I'm pleased for Steve Davis as if you make a couple of questionable decisions early on, you can have a horrible tournament."
Here comes the review and there's no sign of bat on ball. Replays show the ball was clipping the top of middle and off on "umpire's call" so the decision stands and Afghanistan have two quick wickets.
Big appeal for leg before from Mirwais against the right-handed Anamul. Given out by umpire Steve Davis. Immediately calls for a review despite the Afghanistan celebrations.
Anamul Haque brings up the 50 for Bangladesh as he cuts Mohammad Nabi behind square for four. Still plenty of noise from the Bangladesh contingent despite that loss of Tamim Iqbal.

"Bangladesh playing slowly. Some Afghanistan fans may even not know all the rules of cricket but it doesn't seem to be stopping them enjoying it."
A wicket maiden from Mirwais Ashraf as the new man Soumya Sarkar comes in at number three.
And there's the breakthrough Afghanistan have deserved and it's a cracking catch from wicketkeeper Afsar Zazai. Tamim tries to open the face and run it down to third man, but Afsar, diving full length to his left, plucks this one out one-handed.

"Afghan supporters are cheering every ball. But there's a long way to go Supporters of Bangladesh are outnumbering Afghans now but as one Afghanistan fan said, 'they can't beat us in enthusiasm'."
Mohammad Nabi concedes just four singles from his second over from "The Swimming Pool End" of the ground. More watchful stuff from the Bangladesh openers who refuse to take the plunge just yet.

"If the umpire thinks you're going to appeal and shout for everything, he's going to switch off a little bit after a while. I'm a bit concerned about Bangladesh's approach, they're batting very conservatively. A bit like South Africa did against Zimbabwe - the 'favoured nation' desperate to avoid a slip-up."
First hint of some pressure to up the run rate on these Bangladesh openers as Tamim and Anamul almost get in trouble taking a quick single. Throw comes in as Tamim turns back, he's a couple of yards short, even with a dive. But, it misses the stumps and they eventually get the single from an overthrow.

"The queue to get inside the Manuka Oval, some 20 minutes after the start of play. There are still plenty of empty seats in Canberra."
Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi brings himself on to bowl with his off breaks. Stays down leg side with a wide, but a neat start apart from that.

"Mirwais Ashraf is a little follicley challenged and has a touch of Kent seamer Darren Stevens about him. His action's quite similar, though he's a bit open-chested and has a bit of inswing."
Mirwais Ashraf trundles in and bowls some neat line and length that proves difficult to get away. Tidy maiden over.
Chris in Cowbridge: Lying in bed full of cold, tissue up each nostril to try and stem the flow. Do I care? Not a bit! Really want Afghanistan to win, but would love Tamim to kick off. Such an exciting player when in full flow.
Bangladesh 38-0 (10 overs) after winning toss
Batsmen: Tamim 15*, Anamul 20*
Bowling figures: Hamid Hassan 4-0-17-0, Shapoor Zadran 3-1-4-0, Aftab Alam 2-0-11-0, Mirwais Ashraf 1-0-4-0
Anamul short-arm jabs one for four with a pull shot from the first ball of Aftab's second over. Shows his strength on the off side two balls later with a cut shot for four more. End of the mandatory powerplay.
