  2. UAE 106-4 (Stirling 10-0-27-2)published at 05:26 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2015

Barring a couple of reverse sweeps, it's our first sign of some improvisation from the UAE as Anwar steps across to the off side and paddle-scoops Stirling over his left shoulder for a hard-run three. Stirling can't conjure another wicket, but takes his cap with excellent figures of 2-27 from his 10 overs - and just one boundary in that time. He'll have plenty to do later when he opens the batting.

  3. UAE 100-4 (Khurram 24*, Anwar 12*)published at 05:23 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2015

O'Brien's off after four overs and Ireland turn back to Max Sorensen. Born in Johannesburg, he's playing only his 11th ODI after two years in international cricket. Captain William Porterfield keeps his side energised with a good stop at backward point, but then Anwar chops a two which bounces over the Irish skipper. Anwar, who has 12 from 17 balls, brings up the UAE hundred - Khurram has 24 from 37.

  5. UAE 94-4published at 05:17 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2015

  6. UAE 92-4 (Khurram 22*, Anwar 6*)published at 05:15 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2015

If you're just waking up in Ireland (or indeed anywhere else), I can tell you that the boys in green took until the 12th over to break the UAE's opening partnership, but it's most definitely been advantage Ireland since then. O'Brien is giving it everything from the Stanley Street End, three from the over, and we're halfway through the innings.

  8. UAE 89-4published at 05:11 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2015

Off-spinner Stirling, shirt untucked, into his eighth over - I wonder when we'll see slow left-armer George Dockrell on? For now, it's easy to see why Ireland are sticking with Stirling, as the Middlesex man's over only yields a single He has 2-19 from eight.

The magic man Kevin O'Brien does it again - somehow inducing an edge from Patil who fences to the solitary slip, Paul Stirling. O'Brien and Stirling now both have two wickets and a catch to their names today. It was unquestionably Chris Gayle's day yesterday, now these two Irishmen are leading the way at the Gabba.

Seamer Kevin O'Brien into the attack - and that's a huge wicket for Ireland as opener Amjad Ali goes for the big one and hoists a catch to deep mid-wicket.

O'Brien raises his arms in celebration - having done "The Crane" earlier, can he be the man who will fight for Ireland's honour, be the hero they're dreaming of, and do it all for the glory of... cricket?
