  1. Zim 1-0 (target 236)published at 07:58 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

A tight first over from Mohammad Irfan, with only one run coming from it. Zimbabwe's magic target is 236. Sohail Khan, who took 5-55 against India in Pakistan's first World Cup match, is ready to steam in at the other end.

Right, back to Brisbane we go. Zimbabwe need 236 to win, for what would be a World Cup surprise victory over Pakistan.

Former Australia spinner Shane Warne on Twitter:, external Broad and Anderson are averaging 80 with the ball. England can't defend any total, and are also lacking fire power with bat.

Sri Lanka batsman Mahela Jayawardena on Twitter:, external What a game. Brilliant from Lahiru Thirimanne and Kumar Sangakkara. Week before our next game. Will enjoy this win tonight.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan, external: Take the positives England fans. If they win the next five games they are World champions.

Michael Vaughan may well be the most optimistic man in cricket.

    Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"Sorry, the coach and captain don't do it for me. If I was on their plane they don't give me an aura of leadership. I need more than that.

"I've played under quiet people like Mike Brearley. Excellent captain. He got his point over. Brian Close was in your face, Raymond Illingworth had a clever brain. You always felt 'fine, this guy is in charge, this guy has ideas, this guy has something going on in his head and some plans'.

"It's a results orientated business. They are all nice lads with nice families but that is immaterial. If we can't cut it any better somebody has to pay the price. It happens in football. You have to inject something different into the team. If you are a captain, coach, bowler, batsman and you can't cut it you have to go."

  7. England's latest humiliationpublished at 07:43 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Time for some reaction to England's latest humiliation - a nine-wicket defeat by Sri Lanka. It comes after heavy losses to Australia (by 111 runs) and New Zealand (eight wickets) earlier in the World Cup.

Want to know what Geoffrey Boycott thinks of England's performance? Of course you do.

Zimbabwe's Sean Williams: "Anything under 250 as a bowling unit on these wickets is a bonus and we are pleased.

"I was happy with how I bowled, getting two wickets in one over. Getting Afridi was one of my favourite ones. I did my preparation beforehand and you just hope it all works on the day.

"The key now is to not panic, not to lose any quick wickets up front and to knock the ball around at four or five an over. If we bat the way we have been, we should get to that score comfortably."

"Well done Wahab Riaz. He basically saved that innings. Misbah batted well but slowly and if it wasn't for Riaz making a personal international best score it would have been game over.

"I don't think Pakistan have enough because Zimbabwe are a good batting side. I think it's a 60-40 game in Zimbabwe's favour, which is a better result for Pakistan than it had looked like being."

"Zimbabwe fielded that badly in the final over that at one point the keeper tossed it to mid-wicket, he missed the ball and it rolled 30 yards past him.

"Zimbabwe looked as though they were all mentally in the canteen during that over."

  13. Pak 235-7 (Sohail Khan 6, Wahab 54)published at 07:25 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

It started slowly, but ended with a flourish. Wahab Riaz hits two boundaries in the last three balls. He ends unbeaten on 54 from only 46 deliveries.

If Pakistan win this match then they will owe him and Misbah-ul-Haq a great deal of gratitude. Sloppy fielding from Zimbabwe at the end. Will that cost them the victory?

"Mire simply forgot to wrap his fingers round the ball for that missed catch and it thudded into his chest and dropped on to the floor next to him. It was an absolute dolly."

  15. Sohail Khan dropped on threepublished at 07:21 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Two overs. Two dropped catches. This time the embarrassed man is Zimbabwe's Solomon Mire. Who will want to avoid seeing this again later on. He is at deep square leg, and the ball is straight down his throat. But somehow, he gets it all wrong and the ball bounces out of his hands on to the ground.

  16. Wahab dropped on 41published at 07:19 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Substitute fielder Stuart Matsikenyeri, a text commentator's nightmare, spills a chance at deep square leg. Wahab whips it powerfully and it looked a simple catch at thigh height. He dives forward. And fumbles it. Six runs come off the over. One left.

"I've just been on Radio 5 live dissecting England's horrible defeat but I'm so glad to be back watching this game ... it is wonderful not to have to talk about an England match.

"England were in a bad place before their game earlier today but I think we've all given up on them now.

    "Anyway back to this game..."

  18. Pak 216-7published at 07:16 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

It looks a good over for Zimbabwe, until Wahab batters the ball back where it came from, over bowler Tinashe Panyangara's head.

But the pattern of the day has been, that something good happens and that is followed quickly by something bad.

The six was the good bit. A farcical near-run out was the bad. Pakistan, who had both batsmen standing in the middle of the wicket were lucky the Zimbabwe fielder's aim was off.

If you are just waking up, and support England, I would suggest crawling back under the duvet. It's been another horror-show from Morgan's men in Wellington.

They batted pretty well, with Joe Root smacking 121 off 108 balls in their 309-6.

But to say Sri Lanka made light work of their 310 target would be a gigantic understatement. Lahiru Thirimanne made 139 not out and Kumar Sangakkara an unbeaten 117 as the Tigers roared home with 16 balls to spare.
