Khal 'Eriksen' Drogo: Pakistan have so far been the most inept, diabolical and shambolic team in this World Cup.

Hugh in France: England, please take note of Zimbabwe's tactics. They are accelerating in the middle overs. Against the best Pakistan bowlers.

Glad you didn't say England, Khal. You could've done.

  2. Zim 105-3 (target 236)published at 09:42 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Afridi watches on as Taylor produces a beautiful drive over extra cover, with the ball bouncing once and going over the rope. That brings up the 100 in only 25 overs. If these batsmen keep up this form then they will be guiding their team to victory.

"Williams is not a big fella but he is on the front-foot and that was a very costly over for Pakistan.

"It was also a big confidence boost for Zimbabwe because Irfan had been doing a lot of damage. What Williams has just done will have given everyone in their dressing room a lift."

As Rana says, Irfan has been a threat for Pakistan. Although his height goes against him in the 24th over as he pings one in short and fast. But it is too fast for everyone. It sails over the wicketkeeper's head for a boundary. Indeed, it is Irfan's worst over.

Williams swipes the ball away to the midwicket boundary for one four and then gets another through cover. Fifteen off the over.

Rana W U Rehman: Finally Irfan using his height to his benefit. Game on.

    Speaking of Brendan Taylor....

He is currently on 30 so only 21 more needed.

With Masakadza gone, Zimbabwe look to wicketkeeper Brendan Taylor for a big score. And he responds with two boundaries in the 23rd over. One over extra cover, well wide of the long-off fielder, and another back over the bowler's head.

"What a catch that was. The ball was up there for so long and Misbah-ul-Haq did very well to take it.

"The big man Irfan does seem to make things happen. It's amazing the energy he seems to generate around the ground when he has the ball in his hand. The game needed that wicket to keep it on a knife-edge."

That could be a huge moment in the match. Hamilton Masakadza tries to lift the returning Mohammad Irfan over the top.

He hits it high, high into the Brisbane night sky, but Misbah backtracks from mid-off and falls on to his back as he holds on to the ball in front of his chest.

"How will Pakistan cricket remember Shahid Afridi when he retires? Loads of talent and ability but not enough consistency."

  11. Zim 74-2published at 09:25 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

He had a miserable time with the bat, but it is a solid start with the ball from Shahid Afridi. Only two from the over.

    Graeme Swann
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

"Shahid Afridi has always been more dangerous with the ball than the bat at World Cups, especially against the minnow teams.

"So he may have got a two-ball duck on his 35th birthday but he could still play a big part in this game."

  13. Zim 72-2published at 09:24 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

As Ramiz says, Pakistan are in danger of letting this game slip from out of sight here. Zimbabwe score seven off an over for the second one in a row. Taylor produces one of the best shots of the innings so far.

The ball is rising, but Taylor lifts his bat above his head to lift it over the wicketkeeper for four.

Time for the birthday boy. Time for Shahid Afridi.

    Ramiz Raja
Ex-Pakistan captain on BBC Test Match Special

"Pakistan obviously need a wicket but Zimbabwe have read the script perfectly because this is their all important pair.

"They have mixed up their shots well, between defence and attack, and they are doing a good job."

  15. Zim 65-2 (Masakadza 28, Taylor 14)published at 09:19 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Well, that was the best over for Zimbabwe for a long time. Seven came off it and they are on 65-2 after 19 overs. The best shot sees Masakadza punch the ball down the ground, between the non-striker and mid-off. There were also three singles to give the Zimbabwe fans plenty to cheer about.

Ilyas Najib: Good to see the Pakistani bowlers build pressure, but can't help feel if Zimbabwe bat out 50 overs they will win.

  17. Zim 58-2published at 09:15 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Zimbabwe are being reduced to just one scoring shot an over at the moment.

In the 18th over, it is the fifth ball as Wahab Riaz's delivery is outside off stump and Brendan Taylor gives it everything and lifts it over the bowler's head, but can only get three.

  18. Zim 55-2 (target 236)published at 09:11 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

The run rate needed is slowly creeping up. Only two off the 17th over.

Can Zimbabwe record a rare victory over Pakistan?

  20. Zim 53-2 (Masakadza 23, Taylor 8)published at 09:03 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

A welcome relief for Zimbabwe as a rare delivery is off target from the Pakistan pacemen. Wahab sends one short and wide, the sort of delivery that should get punished. And it is. Masakadza slaps it away to the backward point boundary.
