  1. Sco 64-3 (Mommsen 21, Coleman 10)published at 08:51 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Seekkuge Prasanna, with a bandage on his non-bowling hand, delivers some carefully flighted leg-breaks which Preston Mommsen gets to the pitch off and drives an easy single. When he slides one down leg, Freddie Coleman helps the ball on its way and takes two.

  2. Sco 56-3 (target 364)published at 08:49 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Sri Lanka are trying to suffocate Scotland with spin now. Perhaps another factor in their decision to have slow bowling on from both ends are the gathering clouds above the Bellerive Oval. Preston Mommsen survives a stumping appeal and steps back on to the back foot to hit an easy single into the covers. Just one from Dilshan's latest set of six.

  3. Sco 55-3 (Mommsen 18, Coleman 4)published at 08:47 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Freddie Coleman is one for the future in Scottish eyes, the 23-year-old has only played 14 ODI games before now and has a top score of 40 and an average of 12. He is in good company at the crease though, with Preston Mommsen continuing to be dismissive of the short ball as he clobbers Prasanna to the backward square boundary.

  4. Sco 47-3 (target 364)published at 08:44 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Tillakaratne Dilshan has almost 10,000 ODI runs and 102 wickets - another great all-rounder produced by the Sri Lankans. The team which he has got more ODI wickets against? England! Freddie Coleman is the new batsman.

"It's a referral which feels optimistic in the extreme. He looked as out as out can be."

"Not sure why you'd be looking to play Dilshan from the crease. Machan's first move was back there, but you should really be looking to play him on the front foot."

Umpire Richard Illingworth - one of the few Englishmen left in this World Cup - is proven to be correct with the third umpire deeming the ball would have clipped leg stump. Umpire's call... meaning Matt Machan is on his way.

Tillakaratne Dilshan goes round the wicket to the left-handed Matt Machan and the ball spins into the pads of the batsman. The umpire raises his finger, the batsman calls for a review.

Scotland can be assured there are no terrors in this Hobart pitch, they are just struggling to deal with the Sri Lankan bowling which is very straight and giving the batsmen no room to swing their arms. Old-fashioned stuff, but it's all that is required. Thisara Perera does, however, blot his copybook when he bowls a half-tracker which Preston Mommsen pulls to the boundary.

Tom Watts: Sangakarra has scored as many tons in this World Cup as Ian Bell has managed in his entire ODI career.

  11. Sco 35-2 (Machan 14, Mommsen 7)published at 08:34 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

I've just seen a graphic which says Alasdair Evans has bowled quicker than Lasith Malinga in this match. If I was Evans, I'd be taking a screenshot and getting it put on canvas in the front room. Mrs Higginson might not agree though. Back to more pressing matters, Nuwan Kulasekera continues to pose problems with his stock delivery which swings back into the right-hander. That's what makes him so dangerous. Two from the over.

"Call me old-fashioned, but I'd like to go back to seeing five fielders out in the deep and just one ball per innings. Every time at the moment, we're looking at a par score around 340. Does that create a fair contest between bat and ball? I don't think it does."

  13. Sco 33-2 (target 363)published at 08:29 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Thisara Perera is into the attack and Preston Mommsen unfurls another beautiful cover drive, which this time brings four. The right-hander plays that shot well. Mommsen, incidentally, was born in Durban and moved to Scotland in 2006 after being awarded a a cricket and rugby scholarship to Gordonstoun School.

Just to outline the gulf in class between these two teams, I've just been handed a piece of paper which says: "Scotland between them 245 ODI appearances. Sangakkara 403 ODI appearances".

  16. Sco 29-2 (Machan 13, Mommsen 3)published at 08:24 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Scotland skipper Preston Mommsen strides to the crease and is off the mark with a nice cover drive for three, being denied a boundary by Prasanna's diving stop.

"That's a magnificent delivery which just goes to show what a little bit of movement in the air can do. Just a little bit of movement away from the right-hander. There's nothing better than seeing the lights flashing when the stumps are hit."

Both Scottish openers are now back in the hutch as Nuwan Kulasekera splatters Calum MacLeod's stumps via a deflection off the pads.

Lasith Malinga's run up to delivery gets quicker as he approaches, almost as if he's running downhill and can't quite stop himself. He's testing out the middle of the pitch as he tries to unsettle the Scottish batsmen, and is called for a wide when one delivery sails over Calum MacLeod's head.
