OK, let's forget about Sanga and The Don for a moment. What about the greatest associate player there has ever been?

Scotland's Matt Machan has a touch of class about him, and he underlines that when he pounces on a short, wide delivery from Nuwan Kulasekera and cuts the ball to the point boundary.

Jason Whitley: I don't think you can compare Sanga to the Don as the Don didn't play ODIs. the Don was a better Test player.

  3. Sco 18-1 (target 363)published at 08:10 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Lasith Malinga is one of a handful of pace bowlers in the 'right-arm fast' category. None of this fast-medium stuff from Lasith. He has 281 ODI wickets to his name and his strike rate says he takes a wicket every 31 balls. Not a bad effort. Scotland are just surviving out there, three more chipped from their mammoth target,

"In New Zealand the pitches seem to have been spicier than they've been in Australia for this tournament, which kind of goes against history somewhat. Trent Boult has got the ball to swing and New Zealand are bubbling at the moment."

  5. Sco 15-1 (MacLeod 9, Machan 6)published at 08:05 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Nuwan Kulasekera swings one into the pads of Calum MacLeod and wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara is the only one to appeal. Not out! Do you agree with Rakesh's tweet? Is Sanga better than the Don and Sachin? I'm in the Brian Lara camp personally. Three from the over.

"I think the Aussies are the bookies favourite for this World Cup, but I have to own up that before the tournament I wrote a piece where I sort of tipped South Africa. But, they haven't been convincing. They win convincingly and lose embarrassingly. If they're on song, they'll be contenders. But, I think I'd have to go for New Zealand at the moment."

  7. Sco 12-1 (target 364)published at 08:01 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

We're at the Bellerive Oval for today's game, where they have a stand named after Aussie legend David Boon. The big man once sunk 52 cans of beer on a flight over to England for the Ashes. I never get tired of trotting out that incredible stat. 52! Fifty two!

Opener Calum MacLeod finally faces his first delivery in the third over and he's up and running with a trio of twos followed by a single. Not a bad return against Lasith Malinga.

Rakesh Pradhan: Would it be blasphemy to suggest that Sangakkara is a better batsman than Sachin Tendulkar or the Don?

Jay: Where's Mel Gibson when you need him?

  9. Sco 5-1 (MacLeod 0, Machan 5)published at 07:56 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Nuwan Kulasekera is back in the team for the first time since the opening game of the tournament. Entrusted with the new ball, he adopts a nice, tidy line and length to the left-handed Matt Machan who punches a couple down the ground. That's his lot from the over.

  10. Sco 3-1 (target 364)published at 07:52 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Lasith Malinga has bleach in his hair, tattoos on his arms and a pierced eyebrow. He's a frightening sight for a batsman, whether he's bowling toe-crunching yorkers or whistling one past the nose of Scotland's new batsman Matt Machan. Three from the over.

"I don't know what he was doing. He was disorientated, to say the least and he is restraining himself well as he goes off. I have often thought if I was playing in the modern era and one of those cameramen came up to me when I'd just got out I'd be tempted to make contact with my bat."

Poor old Kyle Coetzer. He can't replicate the century he scored against Bangladesh as he is squared up by Lasith Malinga and pops up a simple catch to the bowler. One down, nine to go.

Kyle Coetzer and Calum MacLeod will open up for Scotland, against Lasith Malinga. Good luck, lads.

Scotland are still in with a chance of springing a shock. Even if it is a very slim chance. They are trying to chase down Sri Lanka's 363-9 in Hobart. Can they do it? We're about to find out.

  16. Injury newspublished at 07:40 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Of more immediate concern for England is that all-rounders Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali have been ruled out of their final World Cup match against Afghanistan on Friday because of injury.

Woakes has a left third metatarsal stress reaction and Moeen has a left-sided abdominal strain.

  17. 'Hide behind the sofa'published at 07:39 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

The bad news is that it could get even worse for England, that's according to former batsman Mark Butcher anyway.

"I can see it being an absolutely dreadful six months, eight months of cricket for England," he told 5 live. "We're going to be playing against New Zealand in the first part of the summer at Test match cricket and that team, I'm afraid, with things the way they are, are going to give us an absolute hiding.

"And when Australia come - just don't watch, hide behind the sofa."

  18. Deflated Englandpublished at 07:30 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

England's Chris Jordan has been speaking about Monday's elimination against Bangladesh, and he says the team are, naturally, "gutted".

"Everyone is gutted. Gutted for the fans that came over and the fans at home watching," Jordan said.

"There was probably a bit of anger inside some people (in the dressing room after the game), thinking about every single moment in the game that could have affected it - could they have done something different? That's only natural."

  19. Postpublished at 07:30 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Thanks Adam. Hopefully everyone's well, and got over England's elimination. Shall we hear from the England camp?

  20. Innings breakpublished at 07:28 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Another punishing day in the field for Scotland, who looked like they might go for more than 400 at one stage.

Some majestic batting from Tillakaratne Dilshan and the record-breaking Kumar Sangakkara earlier on before a late flurry of wickets and some tidy fielding pulled it back.

They'll still be plenty for Scotland to chase though when we resume and it'll be Marc Higginson to take you through their reply.
