"Morne Morkel has been in good rhythm in this World Cup. Some of the surfaces don't really suit him, he struggles to bowl full at times, but when they do suit him he's a real handful."

  2. UAE 50-3 (Anwar 3, Patil 2)published at 06:23 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

Morne Morkel continues to excel. He has figures of two wickets for seven runs, off five overs. Patil top edges for one, before a couple for Anwar off the final ball of the over.

"Anwar has been good to watch as has a few of the other associate batsmen and I think that's the story of the World Cup."

  4. UAE 47-3published at 06:20 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

In his previous four matches, Shaiman Anwar had scored 270 runs. As a comparison, that is more than England's Eoin Morgan (90), Gary Ballance (36) and James Taylor (141) put together. Now that is one depressing stat for English fans.

Anwar gets off the mark in the 14th over with a single off the pads after Duminy had gone around the wicket.

"To show they've made improvement the UAE have got to be able to show that there is a structure to the way they chase down a target."

  6. UAE 45-3published at 06:17 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

So both batsmen are on zero. South Africa have just been far too good so far. UAE just need to consolidate for a bit, or this may not last long.

"He came in to try and reap the rewards of what he'd done before. He was searching for a short ball because that's what had been at him the over before, and he just got a bottom edge."

Morne Morkel had worked Khurram Khan over in his previous over, and gets his reward soon after. It is an ugly swipe from the batsman, who is caught behind by Quinton de Kock.

  10. UAE 45-2 (target 342)published at 06:11 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

Next man in Shaiman Anwar, who, without doubt, has been the best UAE batsman so far this tournament. He has made scores of 67, 106 and 62, while no other UAE player has managed to make a half-century.

  11. WICKETpublished at 06:08 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

His first over went for 10, but what a response from JP Duminy. Amjad has gone and UAE fall to 45-2. He picks out Farhaan Behardien at deep square leg.

  12. Ouch!published at 06:07 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

It is a short ball, and smashes into the side of Khurram Khan's helmet. Morne Morkel is the first man to check to see if he is OK, which he is.

But there's no mercy from Morkel as a few deliveries later another feisty one smashes into the top of the bat, bouncing off the fingers. How will the batsman cope with this. Hostile from Morkel. He wants more wickets.

  14. UAE 42-1 (Amjad 19, Khurram 11)published at 06:03 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

JP Duminy is into the attack, but flights in a wide delivery, which Khurram Khan happily cuts away for four between cover-point and cover. That was the second boundary of the over after an earlier shot was punched through cover. Ten off the over. The most expensive of the innings so far.

  15. UAE 32-1 (Morkel 1-1, Philander 0-13)published at 05:59 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

What a tournament it has been for Morne Morkel. His dismisal of Berenger was his 12th wicket of the tournament. He may well be getting more soon. The UAE batsman struggle to deal with him and the ninth over is a maiden.

TMS have been recalling the late Bob Woolmer, who coached South Africa, Warwickshire and Pakistan before his untimely death at the 2007 World Cup.

"I was lucky enough to be at Warwickshire for Bob Woolmer's second spell. He didn't have the players he had in his first spell like Dermot Reeve and Paul Smith, but he broke things down so perfectly for you that it became absolute simplicity, rather than you having six or seven different thoughts at the crease."

  18. UAE 32-1 (Amjad 18, Khurram 1)published at 05:57 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2015

Three singles off the over. Vernon Philander's four overs have only gone for 13 so far. He came in for Kyle Abbott, who had taken eight wickets in his last three matches. Who will get the nod for the quarter-final? A lovely dilemma to have for the South Africans.
