"As an Australian, when we see James Anderson on a team sheet, we know he'll be in your face, will bring everything to the table and will back himself."

  2. Afg 32-3published at 05:04 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

The Afghanistan supporters are out of their seats as Shenwari leans into a drive and punches a four through cover. Anderson decides to remind Shenwari who is boss with a short ball that has the batsman ducking. Shenwari has the last laugh, though, as he pushes another one into cover for two runs.

"There's a dismal feeling about the game, but players like Chris Jordan still have a point to prove. It's a big summer ahead and they want to show what they can do."

  4. Afg 26-3 (Shenwari 1, Jamal 0)published at 04:59 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Samiullah Shenwari joins the action and gets off the mark with a prod to square leg. A slip at the non-striker's end denied him a second run. This is the only run from another good England over.

"That was a beautiful delivery - the perfect fast bowler's wicket. The swing was just enough, with the batsman not committing forward or back. England have bowled beautifully since the rain delay."

  6. WICKETpublished at 04:55 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Jordan has bowled really well since joining the attack and he is rewarded with the wicket of Zazai, who edges a good length delivery to the diving Jos Buttler. It may be completely in vain but England are playing professional, aggressive cricket.

Anderson continues to nip and swing the ball about, asking questions of the Afghani batsmen. The only run from the over comes when the bowler veers slightly off line and Zazai is able to tuck the ball to square leg, drawing cheers from the Afghanistan supporters. They have had little top cheer so far.

    Andrew Samson
    BBC Test Match Special statistician

"Mahmudullah's 128 not out is the fourth highest for Bangladesh in ODIs - the highest being Tamim Iqbal's 154 against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo in 2009. He's also one of eight players to score two or more tons in successive World Cup matches."

  9. Postpublished at 04:50 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

    Trent Copeland
Australia pace bowler on BBC Test Match Special

"Chris Jordan looks like an international cricketer. He has an aura about him, he has pace, gets movement off the seam and he's also a decent batter lower down the order who has good hands in the slips. He's a great prospect."

  10. Afg 24-2published at 04:50 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

We have a change in the bowling as Broad makes way for Chris Jordan. The Sussex seamer starts well, worrying Jamal with a short ball that darts past the batsman's nose. Jordan keeps it neat and tidy and gets himself a maiden.

  11. Bangladesh v New Zealand updatepublished at 04:45 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

    Jeremy Coney
Ex-New Zealand captain on BBC Test Match Special

"It's a good total and New Zealand are going to be stretched. It was a bit of a mixture from the New Zealand bowlers. Bangladesh got to 184-5 at 40 overs but they had a few wickets in hand and were able to get 104 off the last 10 overs.

"At 8-1 off seven overs, it was the worst possible start but it was then an excellent effort from Bangladesh. They wrestled control away from New Zealand and were keen to attack. It's an interesting game, nicely set up."

Salim in Toronto: Bangladesh have scored 270+ runs, higher than any other team against NZ batting first in this WC. Speaks volumes about how far they come, this is still a young team. Makings of a team not to be taken lightly in the future.

    Trent Copeland
Australia pace bowler on BBC Test Match Special

"England have made a great start today, James Anderson and Stuart Broad have pitched the ball up well. They must continue that because it's quite often the team who starts the best after a rain delay which takes the initiative in the game."

  14. Afg 24-2 (Jamal 0, Zazai 5)published at 04:45 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Anderson ends with a ball outside off that is left by Zazi. To confirm, we've lost no overs after that 37 minute break.

  15. Postpublished at 04:43 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Good news! We are going to have play at the SCG pretty soon. In a few minutes in fact. To remind you, Afghanistan are 24-2. Anderson has one ball left of his fifth over - the ninth of the innings. Afsar Zazai and Nasir Jamal are the Afghani batsmen.

  16. Bangladesh v New Zealand updatepublished at 04:38 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Bangladesh have finished their innings on 288-7 from their 50 overs. Mahmudullah takes the applause for his second successive World Cup century - he made 128 not out from 123 balls.

New Zealand have already won Pool A, but a win for Bangladesh could mean they avoid India in the quarter-finals.

"Covers coming off in Sydney, rope being dragged around the outfield, England bowling coach David Saker out there with a baseball mitt helping Chris Jordan get loose. On the PA, Mark Ronson's The Bike Song is played. "Gonna ride my bike until I get home". That might be a suitable punishment for the disappointing England team."

  18. Postpublished at 04:37 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Hang on, it looks like we may be getting some play soon in Sydney. The rain looks to have stopped and the covers have been taken off. No restart time yet, but hopefully it'll be soon.

  19. Postpublished at 04:34 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

No sign of a restart at the SCG. The rain would have to stop completely for that to happen and at present it is still drizzling. As my colleague Stephan stated a couple of entries ago, I think we're in for a frustrating morning. It never rains but it pours.

Ihtisham Hussain: Well played Mahmudullah, back to back 100s and the whole of Bangladesh salutes you. A great innings against a top class bowling unit. Could be challenging in the end for New Zealand as they haven't chased 200+ in this tournament yet.
