  1. Ban 106-2 (McClenaghan 0-29, Vettori 0-10)published at 02:50 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

A hostile over for Mitchell McClenaghan, who looks like a man desperate to impress. He knows he is playing for his place as Adam Milne has been left out because of a shoulder injury.

It is an eventful over. Two fours, one apiece for Sarkar and Mahmudullah, a tasty bouncer and an edge that falls short of the wicketkeeper.

  2. Ban 97-2 (Sarkar 42, Mahmudullah 38)published at 02:45 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Soumya Sarkar is unbeaten on 42, his highest score of the World Cup so far, beating the 40 he made in the 15-run victory over England. Only 10 runs off Daniel Vettori's four overs though. What a tournament the veteran spinner is having.

  3. Ban 94-2published at 02:42 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Speaking of Mitchell McClenaghan, it is a good looking delivery to end the 23rd over. Soumya Sarkar plays and misses at a short ball. Only two runs off the over.

When he's not playing for New Zealand (or Auckland, or Lancashire, or Mumbai Indians, for who he's signed for the 2015 IPL), Mitchell McClenaghan has also worked as a part-time model,, external and was a finalist in Cleo magazine's Bachelor of the Year competition.

  5. Ban 92-2 (Sarkar 40, Mahmudullah 35)published at 02:40 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

As Ebony says, it has been a good recovery from Bangladesh, who were struggling on 27-2. Now a third-wicket partnership of 65 so far. Bangladesh may have had a bit of luck. Well, a lot of luck, with Mahmudullah being dropped twice, on 0 and on 1, but this game is pretty even at the moment.

"These two are going along nicely - I think the left-hand/right-hand combination is good to put the bowlers off their lines. If they can get to the powerplay with wickets in hand, I think Bangladesh can post a handy total."

  7. Ban 89-2published at 02:36 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Mitchell McClenaghan is one of those bowlers that gives absolutely everything. Looking to get that extra pace, he ends up slipping and goes face first into the ground. But he is OK, just his pride that is hurting a bit. Four off the over.

"The other day against England, a couple of Bangladeshis got nipped out early on by Jimmy Anderson, but they then really caused England problems in the middle order."

  9. Scorecard updatepublished at 02:31 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Bangladesh 85-2 (20 overs, lost toss)

    Batsmen: Sarkar 37*, Mahmudullah 31*

    Fall of wickets: 4-1 (Kayes 2), 27-2 (Tamim 13)

    Bowling figures: Southee 6-0-25-0, Boult 7-3-36-2, McClenaghan 2-0-14-0, Vettori 2-0-4-0, Anderson 3-0-5-0

  10. Ban 85-2 (Vettori 0-4, Anderson 0-5)published at 02:31 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Bangladesh struggled at the start, had a brief acceleration period, and appear to be struggling again. Great bowling from Vettori at one end and Corey Anderson at the other.

When you consider that these are the fourth and fifth bowlers New Zealand have used today, you just wonder whether that strength in depth in their bowling line-up may just take the co-hosts to their first World Cup title.

  11. Ban 84-2.published at 02:26 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

No joy for the orange-clad fans just yet. We have not had a six, never mind any catches from the spectators.

Mitchell McClenaghan is back for New Zealand. And enjoys this over a lot more than his first one. He sends one in short which Sarkar does well to duck under. Three singles off the over.

  13. Ban 81-2published at 02:23 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Corey Anderson continues with the ball. He has taken eight wickets in the World Cup so far, a great return. Just the one off the over. And Bangladesh are again struggling to score. A good contest this one.

"Vettori's holding on well for New Zealand, but the other end has been opened up, and Bangladesh are starting to take their opportunities. You can see how McCullum was laying down a few things to his side at the drinks break, as the momentum is now with the Bangladesh batsmen."

  15. Ban 80-2 (Vettori 0-4, Anderson 0-3)published at 02:20 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Another tight over from Daniel Vettori, with the veteran spinner only conceding four runs from his opening two overs.

  17. Drinks breakpublished at 02:14 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

After Mitchell McClenaghan's first over went for 11, his first over of the World Cup, he is hooked. Corey Anderson comes into the attack. And it is a decent effort. Three runs come off the bat and there is one leg bye.

Now it is drinks after what has been a hugely enjoyable opening 16 overs. New Zealand started brightly, claiming the early wickets of Imrul Kayes and Tamim Iqbal before Mahmudullah was dropped twice. Since then Bangladesh have fought back with Sarkar and Nahmudullah making good progress.

  19. Ban 73-2published at 02:10 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

After 28 runs have come off the last two overs, New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum throws the ball to spinner Daniel Vettori. It is just what New Zealand need. The perfect man to slow things down. And Vettori does just that. He only concedes one run from the 15th over.
