Mahmudullah has already been dropped twice and, as England found out to their cost, he is a dangerous batsman.

He has scored 62 against Scotland and 103 versus England in his last two matches and adds 12 to his total with three boundaries in the space of four balls.Trent Boult's figures have gone from 3-3-0-1 and 5-3-13-2 to 7-3-36-2.

"That's not the right length on this pitch from McClenaghan. You can immediately see the difference compared to the full length Southee and Boult have bowled, when it's looked dangerous. Then the New Zealand bowlers got a bit frustrated, went a bit full on leg stump and started being picked off."

Eleven runs come off Mitchell McClenaghan's first over in the 2015 World Cup. Brendon McCullum is still feeling the pain after hurting his hand earlier in the over. One to monitor for sure, but he remains on the field.

Daniel Vettori can wait, as Brendon McCullum decides to bring in Mitchell McClenaghan for his first action of this World Cup. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and say he is just rusty as his first ball is flicked away for four.

Captain McCullum ends up picking up an injury as he does his best Superman impression diving full-length to try and stop the ball hitting the boundary. He is unable to do so, and only suceedes in hitting his right hand on the advertising hoarding. Brave? Reckless? But New Zealand fans breathe again as McCullum is able to carry on.

  9. Ban 44-2published at 01:56 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

No third man for New Zealand in an attacking field from captain Brendon McCullum. Sarkar finds the gap with the ball bouncing just before the boundary.

"Two wickets down, but it could easily be four or five. This can be a difficult to place to field in the slips, Mahmudullah flashed quite hard and it can come as an awkward height to you at slip."

You just have to marvel at this opening spell from both Trent Boult and Tim Southee. Bangladesh should be three down. But will those two lifelines for Mahmudullah prove costly? We will see.

Southee nearly had his first wicket earlier in the over, which ends with Soumya Sarkar dismissing a full toss for four.

  13. Dropped catchpublished at 01:47 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Another lifeline for Mahmudullah. It is a full delivery from Tim Southee but Mahmudullah, who scored 103 against England, swipes at it straight at Corey Anderson at second slip.

Anderson caught Tamim earlier on, but, despite getting two hands to the ball, spills it above his head. To make it even worse for the Kiwi, the ball disappears for four.

"Mahmudullah's been great for Bangladesh in that number four position, he's often steadied the ship for them. It's still overcast so you sense it could still swing for a little while yet."

  15. Dropped catchpublished at 01:45 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

It is so nearly a third wicket for Boult. Facing his first delivery, Mahmudullah provides a rather nervous looking prod, which heads towards the diving Martin Guptill at short leg. He gets a hand to it, but cannot hold on.

"An excellent delivery, just back-of-a-length enough to bring him forward, and it went at a nice catchable height to second slip. That would have caused many batsmen problems."

  17. WICKETpublished at 01:42 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Boult gets hit for four by Tamim Iqbal, but the bowler soon gets his revenge as the batsman is trudging off the field.

Tamim can only find Corey Anderson at second slip and Bangladesh are two down. Both wickets for Trent Boult, who has now taken 15 wickets in the World Cup, more than any other bowler.

  18. Ban 23-1 (Tamim 9, Sarkar 12)published at 01:40 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

The fans are out in force, wearing those orange shirts hoping to take the one-handed catch from any sixes that may come their way.

If New Zealand win the competition, any fan who takes a one-handed catch will win a share of $1m. Bangladesh score two boundaries in the ninth over, but both are only fours and not sixes.

Nevertheless, it is the best over of the match from Bangladesh with Soumya Sarkar moving on to 12 off 11 balls.

"Some of New Zealand's best bowlers have come from country teams, like Southee did, such as Northern Districts or Central Districts, because often in those games teenagers are playing against men and having to make the step up, rather than in the big cities where you're always playing against your own age group."

  20. Ban 15-1published at 01:35 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2015

Replace him now skipper. After three maidens and one wicket, Trent Boult finally concedes some runs. Soumya Sarkar scores three. Before great news for Bangladesh. A boundary for Tamim Iqbal.

Well, Pete, Boult now has figures of 4-3-7-1. But I think we can forgive him for that.
