"When England do bat again, all eyes will be on Jonathan Trott after his failure in the first innings. He's going to need something special in the second innings to convince the selectors that he should be opening the batting against New Zealand and Australia."

Thank you Jamie. Well what a topsy-turvy day of cricket it's been. West Indies had got themselves into such a strong position with a fine bowling display to restrict England to 257, but their batting order has collapsed with the tragic inevitability of a flat-pack bookcase that you've spent three hours assembling, as soon as you gingerly place the first slim novella on its shelves.

Can the hosts claw their way back, or will England continue their surge to victory? We're about to find out...

Despite the swift end to their first innings, it has been a pretty successful day for England so far, and their supporters have enjoyed their day in the sun. What will the final session bring? It will be quite a long one for one thing, there are still technically 38 overs remaining, and they will be described for you by James Gheerbrant.

"Sometimes low-scoring Test matches are great fun to watch. It's a good cricket pitch. At 139-7, the tail isn't strong for West Indies, so England will be looking to get Blackwood out quickly after tea."

The 6ft 7 Broad tests out the 5ft 6 Permaul, who has a Test best of 20 from his four previous matches, but he survives and that is tea. That 28-over session has produced 102 runs and four wickets. England presumably in charge, but the dangerous Blackwood unbeaten on 67 from 71 balls.

"England are trying to make this ball reverse now. The last three throws have come in and Jos Buttler has jogged back to let it bounce. You can't throw the ball into the pitch, so that's the legal way of letting it get scuffed up."

  10. WI 139-7 (Blackwood 67, Permaul 1)published at 19:37 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Blackwood obviously thinks there is not much batting to come. Having swung and missed at Stokes he makes perfect contact with a soaring lofted drive but to gasps from the crowd a steward drops the ball - and his water - 15 yards or so over the ropes at mid-on.

England maintaining a good shine on one side of the ball as they seek some reverse swing. Blackwood unleashing some big shots now, swiping Broad for three, Trott hurling himself into the ropes to prevent the boundary.

"Airy-fairy drive from Holder. It was his first ball facing Stokes, on a good length, moving away, and Holder - with no foot movement - went for that big vacant cover area and got a nick through."

Ben Stokes brought on, Blackwood guides him to the boundary to complete his fourth Test fifty, with eight fours and two sixes from 61 balls, but Holder's first ball from the all-rounder moves away off the seam, is prodded at suspiciously and edged, resulting in England's seventh wicket.

  18. WI 119-6 (Broad 1-28 from 8)published at 19:21 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

Broad's kicking up his heels as he runs in, thriving on the support he received from the large English contingent when he returned to field at fine-leg. He's in the mid-80's in terms of mph, but strays down the leg-side a couple of times, allowing Holder to collect a pair of twos.

  20. WI 115-6 (Blackwood 48, Holder 1)published at 19:17 British Summer Time 2 May 2015

For some reason, young Joe is still plugging away from round the wicket, but he is unceremoniously thumped over cow corner for six by Blackwood. This really highlights the lack of options for captain Cook. Finally Adam Lyth is involved for England in this series - but as a sub fielder for the injured Ballance.
