  1. NZ 215-9published at 17:53 British Summer Time 25 May 2015

These two are doing a fine job of frustrating England. Boult's step-away technique is proving effective as he digs out a Broad yorker and then angles another full ball through point for four. Jimmy Anderson is warming up. A 400th Test wicket wouldn't be the worst way for this game to end.

"When umpire Erasmus signals a wide there is not much of a wider sight in cricket because, as a chap, there is plenty of him."

  5. NZ 211-9 (12 overs remaining)published at 17:49 British Summer Time 25 May 2015

Stokes is too wide or short and not challenging Henry to play. The number 10 is more than happy to leave. On the one occasion he has to play, Stokes nearly gets rewarded with an inside edge that skids past the wickets on its way to the fine leg rope. There's no running going on between the wickets. The batsman have clearly decided to defend an end each.

Christian Reilly: As Geoffrey always says, "add two wickets to the score". OK, so NZ are 202-11. I will take that right now. Come on England.

  8. NZ 206-9 (England need one wicket for victory)published at 17:45 British Summer Time 25 May 2015

Broad, who played a key role in starting England's charge towards potential victory in this innings, returns. New Zealand are refusing to go quietly, though, as Boult opens his stance and punches over mid-off for four.

"It's been a little bit disappointing for the New Zealand team, they will feel there has been enough to suggest they were in the game. To score 523 and then lose the match they will feel they have let themselves down. England got some momentum going and just ran with it. A good delivery removed Guptill early and the wickets of Watling and Anderson were obviously important."

Craig in Merseyside: The sheer delight on the players' faces as they slowly edge towards glory after a five day battle says everything about why five day Tests need to stay. Not everything has to be done and dusted in two hours.

  12. NZ 202-9 (Boult 0, Henry 4)published at 17:39 British Summer Time 25 May 2015

15 overs remaining. Stokes continues with the first of them. Henry is forced to bob and weave under two short ones and then plays with as much assurance as he can muster to poke one through mid-off for two and fend of the rest.

  15. NZ 200-9published at 17:34 British Summer Time 25 May 2015

Boult, surrounded by fielders like a gazelle cornered by a group of slavering lions, does his best to keep out Moeen. He does just that, but not without another swipe of lunacy to try and crack a full ball over mid-on. He doesn't connect, though, and potential runs are stopped by Root.

Terry Mahoney in Chichester: Geoffrey Boycott and others have been captivated by the atmosphere at Lords today. As well as an enthralling Test Match maybe it also has to do with the fact that it is a fifth day crowd. It's a public holiday. Therefore corporate guests will be absent. Today's audience are people who don't normally get the chance to see cricket live and are making the most of it. The administrators should maybe recognise in the future that the best atmosphere isn't always generated by people who will pay the most for the privilege of watching cricket at Lords.

  17. NZ 200-9 (Boult 0, Henry 2)published at 17:31 British Summer Time 25 May 2015

It would be apt if Ben Stokes was to take the wicket that seals this win. His fingerprints are all over this performance. He charges in but Henry is right behind every shot and keeps the Durham seamer and his expectant country at bay.

  20. NOT OUTpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 25 May 2015

For a moment it looked as though it was all over but Rod Tucker's review deems there is no contact with the bat or pad, it is not out and the New Zealanders live to fight another day.
