"A brilliant innings from Rashid. He'd have been a bit nervous, having not played international cricket for two years, but his contribution to that partnership with Buttler should not be underestimated."

Now Rashid goes with a swipe to deep mid-wicket for Guptill to catch. Terrific knock from the Yorkshire all-rounder.

"This is now England's highest ever score in ODI cricket, beating the 391-4 they made against Bangladesh at Trent Bridge in 2005."

Mitchell Santner, on debut, returns. I'm sure he'll thank his skipper for that. Jordan takes a look and then dances down to swipe through extra-cover for four. That is 392 and England's highest ever ODI score. Take a bow lads. Remember when Jason Roy was out first ball? No, me neither.

    Alec Stewart
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

"Quite unbelievable cricket from England. Just think, a couple of months ago, England were being laughed at for playing archaic one-day cricket. It's roles reversed from the World Cup. The public needed this, the England dressing-room needed this, and if this is how they are going to play for the next four years, it's a great start."

Stuart Mitchell: Went out, came back and missed a ton from Buttler. Who are you England and what have you done with the old England?

Callum Johnstone: England playing aggressive, exciting cricket and NZ making silly fielding mistakes...I think I need a lie down!

Rik Andrews: Just looked at the England scorecard for the first time after being in meetings all afternoon. I don't believe it.

  8. Eng 385-7 (Run-rate 8.02)published at 17:36 British Summer Time 9 June 2015

Chris Jordan comes in to join Rashid, who pulls aerially between mid-on and mid-wicket for four. England are seven runs short of their highest ever ODI total. A brave, new England indeed.

    Jeremy Coney
Ex-New Zealand captain on BBC Test Match Special

"It's been carnage. The New Zealand bowlers were unable to stop Jos Buttler once he got into the swing of things. He hit over the field, he hit through the field - it was a lovely innings."

A standing ovation for Jos Buttler, who top-edges a short ball from McClenaghan to Henry, running in from deep point, to end a stunning innings. 129 from 77 balls. Brutal and brilliant.

  11. Eng 372-6 ( Rashid 55, Buttler 123)published at 17:30 British Summer Time 9 June 2015

Boom. Buttler plants another down the ground and straight into the stand off the returning Elliott. Smash. He latches on to a wide, full ball and hammers it between extra-cover and mid-off for four. Kapow. He pulls a second four from the last ball. It is starting to look like an episode of the Adam West Batman. The record is well and truly on.

    Bryan Waddle

"New Zealand are looking a little weak with the ball without Tim Southee and Corey Anderson."

  13. Email tms@bbc.co.ukpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 9 June 2015

Alastair: Root and Buttler did not bat together at all in this innings. How often have 2 centurions in a single ODI innings never been at the crease at the same time?

  14. 50 for Rashidpublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 9 June 2015

Buttler's pyrotechnics means Rashid has been able to go about his work slightly under the radar. But his 50, from 37 balls, has been vital. He brings his half-century up with a pull for four. He follows that with a top-edge that sends the ball over the keeper and brings him another boundary.

This is very un-New Zealand like. They didn't put a foot wrong in the field in the Test series, but they've dropped three today. The latest is the skipper Brendon McCullum who runs backwards from mid-on and just gets his fingertips to a top-edged pull from Rashid.

"Very clean stroke-making from Jos Buttler, all round the ground. He's starting to broaden the strokes and hitting it so comfortably."

  17. 100 for Buttlerpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 9 June 2015

Buttler goes to 99 with a ramp shot off McClenaghan and moves to a century with a drive through extra-cover. Buttler now has the fastest and second-fastest in ODIs for England. This was from 66 balls. His fastest was from 61. To add to that, this is the highest seventh-wicket stand in all ODIs.

  18. Eng 332-6 (Buttler 95, Rashid 43)published at 17:16 British Summer Time 9 June 2015

Henry helps England out with a couple of wides, possibly out of desperation at where to bowl to Buttler, who is now within five runs of another quick-fire century.

  19. Postpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 9 June 2015

Taylor has had a shocker. Again. Buttler hammers one towards him at long-on but he misjudges it, sets off late and fails to get there to get his hands underneath it. That is a second drop of the afternoon for the Kiwi batsman after he dropped Root earlier. He's going to owe his side some serious runs.
