  1. Farewell to the Women's Ashes

And as Australia celebrate a deserved Women's Ashes series win, that's where we're going to leave it. I hope you've enjoyed the BBC coverage of the series.

After a quick bite to eat, we'll be back at about 14:25 BST to bring you the men's T20 international - you can read about that here. See you then.

  2. Champagne moment

The champagne corks have already been popped - Australia captain Meg Lanning lifts the Women's Ashes trophy.

They now hold the Ashes, World Cup and World Twenty20 trophies at the same time. Although England's women have done that in 2009, no men's side (not even Ricky Ponting's Australia) have ever done that.

  3. Captain's view

Quote Message: We were disappointing today but have to give credit to England, they came out really hard and came to play today. The Test match win was really special, to get those 10 wickets on that final day is something I will never forget. There is always a lot to learn, the group has been fantastic, it has been a really fun tour and I think it showed in our play. We've had a lot of support from back home and that's great. from Meg Lanning Australia captain

  5. Captain's view

Quote Message: I think we needed this to top off the series. It has been disappointed but I am proud of what the girls have done. We are seeing signs of what Nat [Sciver] is capable of at this level. She played so positively after a first-ball duck at Brighton. I will have a break after this series. It has been a long year. I will then go to play in the Big Bash for the Perth Scorchers. It is a great opportunity not just for myself but all these girls. We will all come back stronger after this series for a strong 2016-17. There is character in the group and we need to stick together and will continue to do that and work hard. from Charlotte Edwards England captain on TMS

  7. Captain's view

Quote Message: The crowd have been our 12th man at the times and really inspired us, it really does mean a lot and I hope you'll all come back and watch us in the future. We'll be a stronger group because of this, sometimes it takes a loss to move forward and looking forward to a brilliant 2016-17. from Charlotte Edwards England captain

  8. Player of the Women's Ashes series

Quote Message: We hadn't held the Ashes in quite a long time we had a great preparation back home and to play the way we have against such fantastic opposition in England has been a fantastic experience. It's really nice to be able to contribute up the order and what has been so pleasing is that our whole squad has contributed. There's a great feeling amongst the group, we've definitely got some things to work on but it has been fantastically enjoyable and really exciting for the future. from Ellyse Perry Australia all-rounder

  9. Captain's view

Quote Message: We spoke about getting something from this last match and to beat the best team in the world is something we should be proud of but missing out on that run chase at Hove makes it doubly disappointing as a group. Ultimately Australia have been the better team but when we have played at our best we have matched them. from Charlotte Edwards England captain

  15. Player of the series

Quote Message: Bit of luck here and favourable conditions, that's the way it goes in T20 sometimes and wickets go your way. We love playing high pressure games and it brings out the best in me. Quote Message: The biggest issue in this short format is the opening partner for Charlotte Edwards. The bowling is brilliant but they need to work on building batting partnerships. This is why Nat Sciver scoring runs is such a positive.
  18. Player of the series

The player of the T20 series is England's Anya Shrubsole, who has combined figures of 7-35 from the three matches.

  19. Player of the match

Natalie Sciver is named as player of the match for her 4-15 and 47. The presentation party on the podium includes a true legend of women's cricket - Baroness Heyhoe Flint.

  20. Coach's view

Quote Message: It was important to us to bounce back and beat the world champions in this format. I'm happy we got over the line and Nat Sciver got the runs she did. We bowled and fielded well in all three formats. We have had moments with the bat but struggled in some situations. We take full responsibility for all the performances and some of those have not been at the level we want. I am accountable for that. We have a balance of youth and experience and at times we have not performed as well as we would like in pressure situations. We will look at that and move forward positively. I am 100% behind Charlotte Edwards, as are the team and management. from Paul Shaw England head of women's performance

  26. Captain's view

Quote Message: We weren't great today unfortunately. England bowled well today. It is a disappointing finish but we can't complain. We did what we came here to do. I don't think the conditions changed much through the game but we lost too many wickets and couldn't get back in the game. We needed a perfect display with the ball and didn't get that. Our average age is around 25 and we have a lot of games between us. We have to keep trying to improve. We have the opportunity to dominate women's cricket. from Meg Lanning Australia captain on TMS

I managed to get the ball in the right place. Nat Sciver bowled and batted brilliantly. We've bowled well in this series. We are pleased with but unfortunately we haven't retained the Ashes. I have played an entire summer, I'm still fit and I can't tell you the last time I did that. I will have a bit of a break now and then into winter training. 39. Eng 110-5

Greenway guides a single to deep mid-wicket. Two runs needed from 12 balls.

  40. Eng 109-5

Greenway has to dig out a good yorker from Rene Farrell, but top-edges a sweep over the keeper for two. Three needed from 13.

  41. Eng 107-5 (target 112)

Vice-captain Heather Knight, who opens in Tests and ODIs, is down at number seven in this format - she punches a single to deep mid-on to leave five needed from 15 balls.

  42. Post update

    Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

Quote Message: Good to see a number of people standing to clap Nat Sciver. She deserves that. It is an unfortunate way to go but it is a brilliant 47. The way she built her innings and partnerships is the future of what England are trying to do.
  43. WICKET

Sciver run out (Healy direct hit) 47 (Eng 106-5)

Well, Sciver's not going to see England home - attempting another quick single, she's easily run out at the bowler's end by keeper Healy's throw from short fine leg. She's probably done enough for player of the match though. Six needed from 18 balls.

  44. Eng 105-4 (target 112)

Another drive from Greenway, four more, this time to long-on. Seven more needed from 21 balls, we're into "surely not even England can mess this up from here" territory.

  45. Post update

    Ebony Rainford-Brent

Quote Message: This is the intent that we have wanted to see for a long time from England. Australia have been off the mark with the ball.
  46. Eng 101-4

Lanning has removed herself from the attack and just looks set to rotate her seamers now, Coyte is back on. Sciver adds a single, and Greenway finally finds the boundary with a powerful off drive. 11 needed from 22 - pressure, what pressure? Hundred up.

    Meg Lanning
  47. Eng 96-4 (target 112)

A Brucie bonus for the hosts as they take a quick single, Coyte throws at an unguarded set of stumps, the throw's not backed up and England help themselves to an overthrow. Perry's last ball is a bouncer which Sciver hits down to square leg - Perry finishes with 1-26 and England need 16 from 24 balls.

Quote Message: The crowd in Cardiff are undoubtedly nervous as England edge towards an important victory. They’re fully involved in the action, applauding every well-run single, boundary and dot ball - perhaps more in an effort to keep warm than anything else.
  49. Eng 92-4

Lanning goes for broke by recalling Ellyse Perry for her last over. Her mission: to dismiss Natalie Sciver before the Surrey all-rounder sees England home. Sciver has already achieved her best T20 international batting and bowling figures today. A single takes her to 45 from 41 - by contrast, at the other end, Greenway is struggling to get bat on ball and has 2 from 12.

Quote Message: Australia will still feel if they can squeeze one out you never know, but England are firmly in the driving seat.
  51. Eng 91-4 (Sciver 44, Greenway 2)

Unorthodox from Lydia Greenway - known for her sweeps and reverse sweeps, she sets up to reverse sweep but somehow the ball takes an edge and trickles towards square leg. Lanning has Greenway playing and missing again... but it's signalled as a no-ball, though not a free hit. Did they have three fielders behind square on the leg side? Or some other unforced error? England need 21 from 30 balls.

Quote Message: Nat Sciver is really cashing in here. She knows Meg Lanning is a part-time bowler and she doesn't want her to settle.
  53. Eng 88-4 (target 112)

The Bank Holiday crowd is filling up, if you've got a ticket and you're not there yet you're missing a cracking innings from Natalie Sciver as she blasts Lanning back past the stumps for four, then guides a single to fine leg to move to 43 from 38 balls.

  54. Post update

    Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

Quote Message: Charlotte Edwards maybe needs to go away after this tournament and honestly analyse her performance. Meg Lanning is younger and is less scared of taking a risk.
  55. Eng 83-4 (target 112)

We've had a lot of wides today, Schutt bowls another before going round the wicket to the left-handed Greenway, who swings and misses at the last ball. 29 from 36 balls - who's your money on?

    Lydia Greenway
  56. Post update

  57. Eng 81-4

Schutt replaces Farrell at the Cathedral Road End as Sciver, whose all-round contribution today must make her favourite for the player of the match award, keeps plugging away. She has 37 from 34 balls, the left-handed Greenway is off the mark with a single.

    Nat Sciver
  59. Eng 79-4 (target 112)

Lydia Greenway, who top-scored for England with 26 at Hove, is the new batter. Despite sending down a couple of wides, it's otherwise a tight over from Lanning - England need 33 from 42 balls.

  61. WICKET

    Brunt lbw b Lanning 17 (Eng 77-4)

A great bowling change from Meg Lanning - the captain introduces her own potent brand of partnership-breaking, slingy right-arm seam - and it traps Brunt in front second ball.

    Meg Lanning
  62. Scorecard update

    England 76-3 (12 overs) - need 36 more from 48 balls

    Fall of wickets: 1-1 (Wyatt 0), 8-2 (Taylor 3), 22-3 (Edwards 8).

    Bowling: Perry 3-0-21-1, Farrell 3-1-10-2, Schutt 2-0-12-0, Coyte 2-0-17-0, Jonassen 1-0-8-0, Harris 1-0-7-0.

    Australia 111 all out (20 overs) -  Blackwell 24, Harris 24, Shrubsole 4-11, Sciver 4-15

    England won toss

    Full scorecard

  63. Eng 76-3 (Sciver 35, Brunt 17)

Brunt bludgeons a two down to fine leg, where Grace Harris makes a good diving stop, but with 36 needed from 48 deliveries, there now seems to be an increasing belief around Cardiff that England might pull this off. (Famous last words).

  64. Eng 72-3

Australia could do with a wicket, so turn back to Rene Farrell - and Sciver nurdles a single to fine leg to bring up the fifty partnership.

    Natalie Sciver
  65. Eng 71-3 (target 112)

A boundary at the start of the over always takes the pressure off - and it's a profitable over for England as their fourth-wicket pair plunder four more singles. This stand is worth 49, and England need 41 from 54 balls.

  66. Post update

    Mel Jones

Former Australia batter on BBC Test Match Special

Quote Message: It has been a low-scoring affair but we have seen the most amount of sixes yet in this series. Grace Harris hit three and now Sciver has got in on the action. This is an interesting phase of the game now.
  67. Eng 67-3

Now it's Katherine Brunt's turn to join in as spinner Grace Harris - bowling with her cap on - is despatched for four through mid-wicket on her first delivery.

Quote Message: Sciver is a strongly-built, athletic player. The first six for England is a sign of what she can do.
  69. Eng 63-3 (Sciver 31 from 27 balls)

Our first sight of Australian spin today as they turn to slow left-armer Jess Jonassen, who's had a marvellous series with bat and ball. But the increasingly assured Sciver hoists her for a six over long-on. At the halfway stage, they need 49 from 60 balls.

  70. Post update

    Mel Jones

Former Australia batter on BBC Test Match Special

Quote Message: In the T20 format Sciver has come on and got wickets but her main role is to bat. She hasn't fulfilled that much yet this series. But she has a chance here to see England through to a win.
  71. Eng 55-3 (target 112)

There's some nail-biting in the England dug-out (both literal and metaphorical) but there's a decent round of applause as Sciver and Brunt push the score past 50. Sciver seems to have adjusted well to this pitch, cutting Coyte for a two and a three. Her 24 has only taken 22 balls - and she's kept the strike.

  72. Post update

  73. Eng 46-3 (Sciver 17, Brunt 5)

Healy belatedly stands back from the stumps, but that gives Sciver the chance to come out of her crease next ball. Healy then comes back up to the stumps - this is more like a game of Grandmother's Footsteps than cricket this over - but Sciver keeps the score ticking with ones and twos. 66 needed from 72 balls.

  74. Eng 43-3

England's men have started to arrive at Cardiff for their T20 international which starts at 15:00 BST - we'll have full coverage of that one later on - but for now it's feeling like an uphill struggle for their female counterparts - although if Healy keeps missing legside wides, letting another one through to the boundary for five wides, it could be a close-run thing.

  75. Eng 37-3 (Sciver 14, Brunt 4)

More fluent batting from Sciver, guiding Coyte for two through extra cover. She has 14 from 13 balls.

    Natalie Sciver
  76. Eng 34-3

All right-arm seam so far from Australia as the Southern Stars turn to Sarah Coyte's medium pace - but she fires one down the leg side which beats Brunt, wicketkeeper Healy and disappears for five wides. They all count, England...

  77. Post update

    Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

Quote Message: All England need is the grit to see them over the line. Australia have shown that hunger and desire over the series. England can bring this home comfortably but they need the belief to do so.
  78. Eng 29-3 (target 112)

Brunt is off the mark with a two and a single as the powerplay concludes.

  79. Post update

  80. Missed run-out

    Eng 26-3

Despite Farrell's excellent figures, Australia make a change and turn to fellow right-arm seamer Megan Schutt. Brunt hasn't connected cleanly yet, and when she is sent back by Sciver, Schutt has the chance to run her out but her underarm throw misses the stumps at the striker's end as Brunt pulls out the full-length dive.

  81. Post update

    Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

Quote Message: Plenty of time in this game. England are comfortably ahead of the rate. Schutt will now try to extract the same sort of swing Farrell got.
  82. Eng 26-3 (Sciver 12, Brunt 0)

Australia keep Perry going at the River Taff End, but Sciver is still batting positively, stepping forward and using the pace on the ball to deflect a four through long leg. Perry has 1-21 from three overs.

  84. Eng 22-3 (Farrell 2-1-5-2)

Katherine Brunt has responded to her promotion to number five in this T20 series by scoring 13 not out from seven balls at Chelmsford, and 20 from 29 at Hove. But for now, she has to dig in as Farrell completes a wicket maiden.

  85. Post update

  88. Eng 22-2 (Edwards 8, Sciver 8)

Edwards helps herself to some singles, but it's Sciver who's looking to be more aggressive at this stage, coming down the wicket to Perry and slicing a three past backward point, then guiding three more to deep extra cover. England are "Richie Benaud" - 22-2. Just the 90 more needed from 17 overs.

  90. Eng 12-2 (Edwards 5, Sciver 2)

Natalie Sciver comes in - like Australia, England have their number four at the crease before the end of the second over. A couple of legside wides boost the score, while a firm drive back past the bowler from Sciver brings her two. England need 100 more from 18 overs.

  92. WICKET

    Taylor c Healy b Farrell 3 (Eng 8-2)

  94. Eng 7-1 (target 112)

Danielle Wyatt goes first ball - beaten by a fast delivery from Ellyse Perry which goes between bat and pad, flicks the top of her left pad and demolishes her stumps. Captain Edwards, who had taken a single off her second delivery, is joined by wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor.

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

Quote Message: I would say in 2009 when England dominated, Charlotte Edwards was the best captain in the world. But since then others have come on, like Meg Lanning, and been a bit more dynamic. It is clear that England have a game plan but they haven't been flexible enough. I don't think England will risk a change yet. I might consider looking at Heather Knight but I don't think they are ready to do that because of the force Edwards has been.

Rene Farrell has to go out for one ball here, and be the non-striker. And it's a case of deja vu as Healy falls in the same manner as Schutt, hoisting the last ball of the innings towards the leg-side boundary and this time Danielle Wyatt takes the catch. Grundy finishes with 2-28.

  111. Aus 107-8 (Sciver 4-0-15-4)

The hat-trick ball is forced for a single to square leg by Megan Schutt, Healy goes for a cross-batted blast over the bowler's head which brings her two. One over left - Sciver gets a big round of applause as she takes her cap, having achieved her best T20 international bowling figures.

  121. Dropped catch

    Aus 91-6

Rebecca Grundy has had a change of ends, she'll bowl the 18th (and presumably 20th) overs. Healy into double figures, the field is shuffled for the big-hitting Harris, who hits the ball back low to the bowler, who can't hold on. Ouch.

  122. Aus 90-6 (Healy 9, Harris 17)

Brunt ends her spell of 0-27 with a dot ball but with three overs left, some big hitting from Harris could yet make this a very tricky total for England to chase down.

  124. Aus 90-6

Harris smacks a two to deep extra cover - then smacks a slower ball from Brunt over the leaping Greenway at deep mid-wicket for another six.

  125. Aus 82-6

Interesting move - England go back to the pace of Katherine Brunt for her last over, so they could be finishing up with spin here. Harris steps across her stumps with one eye on a Jos Buttler-style ramp shot, but can't connect cleanly and they can only shuffle through for a leg bye. But Healy blasts a single to mid-off to get Harris back on strikie.

    Alyssa Healy
  126. Aus 79-6 (Healy 7, Harris 9)

Harris, a powerful young all-rounder from Queensland, is off the mark with a two - and having got her eye in, smashes a Hazell full toss over mid-wicket for the first six of the day.

More ones and twos from Blackwell and Healy as Hazell whizzes through her third over. England are rather having to rush through their overs here (possibly after those wides Shrubsole bowled earlier) - they've got 20 minutes left to get six overs in.

Sciver's off, despite having taken a wicket with her last ball, as left-arm spinner Grundy returns. It's still pedestrian progress from Australia, Blackwell gets down on one knee to sweep but Katherine Brunt earns a round of applause for an excellent diving stop on the square leg boundary, and an inch-perfect throw over the stumps for good measure. 148. Aus 34-4

Left-arm spinner Rebecca Grundy into the attack (with the field restrictions lifted), Blackwell forces a two off her legs. There's nearly a run-out chance when Blackwell knocks the ball to short fine leg again, she hesitates as Perry comes haring through for a single, and a more accurate throw would have had Blackwell in trouble. Perry clubs a four through long-on, the first boundary for a while.

  150. Aus 25-4 (Shrubsole 3-0-8-4)

Alex Blackwell, celebrating her 32nd birthday today, is the new batter and Shrubsole's nearly on a hat-trick as Blackwell is hit on the pad walking across her stumps and trying to force the ball to leg... but the appeal is to no avail.

Shrubsole has 4-8 from three overs. If this was the pre-1984 era where wides (and no-balls) didn't count against the bowler, she'd have 4-4.
