    Brunt lbw b Lanning 17 (Eng 77-4)

A great bowling change from Meg Lanning - the captain introduces her own potent brand of partnership-breaking, slingy right-arm seam - and it traps Brunt in front second ball.

  3. Eng 76-3 (Sciver 35, Brunt 17)published at 12 overs

Brunt bludgeons a two down to fine leg, where Grace Harris makes a good diving stop, but with 36 needed from 48 deliveries, there now seems to be an increasing belief around Cardiff that England might pull this off. (Famous last words).

  4. Eng 72-3published at 11.1 overs

Australia could do with a wicket, so turn back to Rene Farrell - and Sciver nurdles a single to fine leg to bring up the fifty partnership.

  5. Eng 71-3 (target 112)published at 11 overs

A boundary at the start of the over always takes the pressure off - and it's a profitable over for England as their fourth-wicket pair plunder four more singles. This stand is worth 49, and England need 41 from 54 balls.

It has been a low-scoring affair but we have seen the most amount of sixes yet in this series. Grace Harris hit three and now Sciver has got in on the action. This is an interesting phase of the game now.

  7. Eng 67-3published at 10.1 overs

Now it's Katherine Brunt's turn to join in as spinner Grace Harris - bowling with her cap on - is despatched for four through mid-wicket on her first delivery.

Sciver is a strongly-built, athletic player. The first six for England is a sign of what she can do.

    Eng 63-3 (Sciver 31 from 27 balls)published at 10 overs

Our first sight of Australian spin today as they turn to slow left-armer Jess Jonassen, who's had a marvellous series with bat and ball. But the increasingly assured Sciver hoists her for a six over long-on. At the halfway stage, they need 49 from 60 balls.

In the T20 format Sciver has come on and got wickets but her main role is to bat. She hasn't fulfilled that much yet this series. But she has a chance here to see England through to a win.

  11. Eng 55-3 (target 112)published at 9 overs

There's some nail-biting in the England dug-out (both literal and metaphorical) but there's a decent round of applause as Sciver and Brunt push the score past 50. Sciver seems to have adjusted well to this pitch, cutting Coyte for a two and a three. Her 24 has only taken 22 balls - and she's kept the strike.

  13. Eng 46-3 (Sciver 17, Brunt 5)published at 8 overs

Healy belatedly stands back from the stumps, but that gives Sciver the chance to come out of her crease next ball. Healy then comes back up to the stumps - this is more like a game of Grandmother's Footsteps than cricket this over - but Sciver keeps the score ticking with ones and twos. 66 needed from 72 balls.

  14. Eng 43-3published at 7.1 overs

England's men have started to arrive at Cardiff for their T20 international which starts at 15:00 BST - we'll have full coverage of that one later on - but for now it's feeling like an uphill struggle for their female counterparts - although if Healy keeps missing legside wides, letting another one through to the boundary for five wides, it could be a close-run thing.

  15. Eng 37-3 (Sciver 14, Brunt 4)published at 7 overs

More fluent batting from Sciver, guiding Coyte for two through extra cover. She has 14 from 13 balls.

  16. Eng 34-3published at 6.2 overs

All right-arm seam so far from Australia as the Southern Stars turn to Sarah Coyte's medium pace - but she fires one down the leg side which beats Brunt, wicketkeeper Healy and disappears for five wides. They all count, England...

All England need is the grit to see them over the line. Australia have shown that hunger and desire over the series. England can bring this home comfortably but they need the belief to do so.

  18. Eng 29-3 (target 112)published at 6 overs

Brunt is off the mark with a two and a single as the powerplay concludes.

  20. Missed run-outpublished at 5.4 overs

    Eng 26-3

Despite Farrell's excellent figures, Australia make a change and turn to fellow right-arm seamer Megan Schutt. Brunt hasn't connected cleanly yet, and when she is sent back by Sciver, Schutt has the chance to run her out but her underarm throw misses the stumps at the striker's end as Brunt pulls out the full-length dive.
