WICKET Wheater (c Buttler b Edwards 0)published at 5.2 overs

    Hampshire 33-2 (Vince 18)

Two in two for George Edwards, who strays down the leg-side, but a thin edge by Adam Wheater is safely taken by England's Jos Buttler behind the stumps. Owais Shah survives the hat-trick ball.

When you try and force it over the infield you see mis-timed shots. The good boundary shots we've seen have been hit along the deck.

  3. wicket

WICKET Carberry (c Prince b Edwards 13)published at 5.1 overs

    Hampshire 33-1 (Vince 18)

Michael Carberry lofts George Edwards back over his head but badly mistimes the shot and it's an easy catch for Ashwell Prince.

  4. Hampshire 33-0 (Carberry 13, Vince 18)published at 5 overs

Gavin Griffiths is treated with less respect as he begins his second over, from the opposite end to his first, as James Vince slices his opening delivery away to the third man boundary.

Michael Carberry pulls powerfully as Griffiths drops short, but there is a man in the right place on the boundary to keep Hampshire to a single, and Arron Lilley then produces a superb diving stop to deny Vince four runs from the final ball.

  5. Hampshire 25-0 (Carberry 11, Vince 12)published at 4 overs

Steven Croft maintains the one-over rotation as he summons up James Faulkner, whose opening delivery is eased through the covers for four by Michael Carberry.

The next is thrashed in a similar direction, with the same result, as the left-hander comes down the wicket.

Vince joins in by flipping the ball away behind square for four and suddenly the scoring rate is up above six an over - but Hampshire will want it to be a lot higher than that as the innings progresses.

  6. Hampshire 10-0 (Carberry 2, Vince 7)published at 3 overs

One over is enough for now from skipper Steven Croft and former Surrey seam bowler George Edwards steps up as Lancashire keep Australia all-rounder James Faulkner in reserve for now.

The second ball is a wide and the third is almost another as Michael Carberry gives himself some room, but the Hampshire batsmen are unable to penetrate the field and only two come from the over.

What a start for Gavin Griffiths. It must be nice for someone making your debut to have James Faulkner coming up to you and patting you on the back.

  8. Hampshire 8-0 (Carberry 1, Vince 7)published at 2 overs

A show of confidence by Croft as he hands the new ball to T20 debutant Gavin Griffiths.

An open-chested action, perhaps reminiscent of former Lancashire and West Indies paceman Colin Croft, but he finds a decent line and length, and is not afraid to try a slower ball too, which foxes James Vince.

It's a magnificent maiden by the youngster. He's done Ormskirk proud.

  9. Hampshire 8-0 (Carberry 1, Vince 7)published at 1 over

Lancashire skipper Steven Croft fronts up straight away to start things off with his off-spin.

Opposite number James Vince wastes no time in smashing the first boundary through the covers, but it's the only one of the over as the Hampshire openers settle in.

    Hampshire v Lancashire (14:30 BST)

Hampshire and Lancashire met in the second semi-final of the T20 Blast 12 months ago. On that occasion, Lancashire came out on top in a rain-affected contest. They made 160-5 from 19 overs and then bowled out Hampshire for 101 to win by 41 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis calculations. Thankfully, we look set fair for an uninterrupted game this time.

Anyway, we're all set, and this time it's Hampshire to bat first.

  13. Gavin who?published at 14:23

    Hampshire v Lancashire (14:30 BST)

It's a big ask by Lancashire Lightning to pitch seam bowler Gavin Griffiths, external into a T20 semi-final without having played in the competition before. So what can I tell you about him?

He was born in Ormskirk and has come up through the youth ranks at Old Trafford. He was also part of the England Under-19 squad. He has played five games for Lancashire in the longer limited-overs formats, taking four wickets at an average of 45.

  14. Who will face the Steelbacks?published at 14:19

    Hampshire v Lancashire (14:30 BST)

As the late, great Richie Benaud used to say 'afternoon everyone'. So, Northants Steelbacks are waiting in the final, but who will their opponents be?

Lancashire Lightning have won 16 limited-overs titles, but never English cricket's T20 trophy, having been narrowly beaten by Birmingham Bears 12 months ago. Will it be their turn this year?

They say good things come in threes - and maybe it will be in Hampshire's case. They are seasoned Finals Day veterans, making their sixth successive appearance, and having lifted the silverware in 2010 and 2012, will they be lifting it for a third time this evening?

Hampshire are unchanged from their quarter-final win over Worcestershire.

The big news for Lancashire is that Jos Buttler is in the side and in the absence of injured pace bowler Kyle Jarvis, 21-year-old Gavin Griffiths makes his T20 debut for the Red Rose county.
