"A few people have questioned my umpiring credentials but I have umpired once before, in Ireland. I'd been out the night before and nodded off between two deliveries."

    Kevin Howells: "Oh dear."

England haven't hit a boundary since the second ball of the 29th over. Morgan was out two overs later. The skids are on. Rebuilding the order of the day, while Pakistan are happy to whip through some quiet ones in the twilight.

Shoaib Munir: When cricketers retire, they get up to all sorts of activities. From David 'Syd' Lawrence becoming a bodybuilder, to Imran Khan choosing politics. It really is a sport that takes you places (even after retirement)!

  4. Eng 153-5 (Taylor 59, Moeen 3)published at 33 overs

Buttler had a murderous look in his eyes as he stomped off, while Taylor looks for some reassurance from Moeen in between overs. "That wasn't my fault was it, Mo?" He avoids more strife here, Taylor. Pakistan think he's lbw to Malik and ask for a review. Only thing is, they've taken too long. No review for you, fellas. Oh, you're kidding. He would have been out. Pitching on, hitting leg stump. A life.

Simon Goodall: How Buttler bit his tongue there I don't know. Taylor, never a run there.

Tim Bache: Sorry that was my fault as I turned the radio on for the first time today.

  6. Eng 150-5 (Taylor 58, Moeen 1)published at 32 overs

It was the last ball of the over, so Taylor might have been looking to keep the strike. He dropped the ball on the leg side and set off. Azhar Ali came in from mid-wicket, dived to get the ball in to Sarfraz, who had the bails off. Two wickets for one run for England, who now have Moeen Ali at the crease.

"That is a disaster for Jos Buttler. He just needed an innings. When things are going against you, this happens."

Buttler run out 1 (Eng 148-5)

This is a shocker, both for Jos Buttler and for England. Taylor calls him for a short single. I don't know if Buttler was slow to set off, but he was short of his ground when the ball came in. No direct hit, no dive. Buttler, in need of runs, is stuffed by Taylor and England have lost two in an over.

What are England doing out there? Is Jos Buttler run out second ball? He's struggling...

  10. Eng 147-4published at 30.3 overs

Right then, Joseph Buttler, time for you to find some form. Looking again at that Morgan wicket, he was actually undone by some quite sharp turn. The England skipper was driving, got quite a thick edge and Sarfraz took a decent catch.

"A brilliant effort. He paced his innings so well. He'll be gutted to have got out like that, he likes to open up through the off side but I think he was done by the flight. It's good to see he's back in form."

Gone this time! The very next ball after Taylor is let-off, Eoin Morgan is on his way. It's nothing more than a gentle off-break from Shoaib Malik, which Morgan follows and tickles through to Sarfraz Ahmed. Pakistan earn a much-needed wicket, while England's momentum is halted.

On dear. James Taylor gets a life as Azhar Ali makes a complete Horlicks of a skier. Shoaib Malik the bowler, ball straight up. Azhar doesn't even get a hand on it.

Is Mohammad Irfan bowling to James Taylor the biggest ever bowler/batsman height difference? Joel Garner v Alan Knott springs to mind.

  16. Eng 145-3 (Yasir 6-0-24-0)published at 30 overs

There is the rare sight of spectators in this ground, a luxury we were rarely afforded during the Test series. Yasir has plugged the short fine-leg gap to Morgan, with the fielder busy in this over. It's good from Yasir, who has only conceded one boundary in his six overs. He's the only spinner exerting control.

What a way to bring up a half-century. For the second time in as many overs, James Taylor dances, this time at Shoaib Malik, to earn a straight six. A 64-ball fifty for the England number five, to add to his previous five ODI scores of 49, 43, 101, 41 and 12. Impressive.

As we mentioned earlier, Mark Robinson has been appointed as head coach of England's women and has done a wonderful photo shoot to go alongside it all. He takes over from Paul Shaw who stepped down in September. And you can read the full article here

England really are playing the Pakistan spinners well. Making angles, using their feet, capitalising on bad balls. It's a good battle with Yasir Shah, who is going through his box of tricks in order to stifle the scoring and find a precious breakthrough. Under the lights, we've moved on from dance music to Maroon 5.
