"Today was about character. Let's not forget that if England had lost today they could only have drawn the series.
"England can be really proud - it's a brilliant bounce-back. And they will feel there is a confidence going into the next game."

I would just like to ask John Michael Poole how he feels about his thoughts posted during the interval? England short of runs? "Pie man" Rashid to have a stinker? Predictions clearly not his strong point.

"What a transformation. That is a big margin of victory for England. There's a lot of relief down there. The coaches would have been pretty angry after the performance in the first match."
Some good bowling figures for the tourists - Woakes willt ake the plaudits with 4-33, but Willey was England's most economical bowler with 3-25 from eight, while Topley (1-33), Rashid (1-32) and Moeen (1-50) can also be pleased with their evening's work.
ENGLAND BEAT PAKISTAN BY 95 RUNS AND LEVEL ODI SERIES AT 1-1
Irfan b Topley 0 (Pak 188 all out)
Mohammad Irfan looks like he's taking guard with a schoolboy's 12-inch ruler, so much does his height dwarf the size of his bat. And Reece Topley cleans him up second ball, a deserved wicket for the left-armer - England have levelled the series.
The giant Mohammad Irfan strides to the crease (needing fewer strides than anyone else to reach the middle). But his partner Yasir Shah has the remaining members of the crowd on their feet, launching a huge six over cow corner! It's retrieved by a fan in a long, flowing dark robe, who rather milks the celebration, running and kissing the ball before throwing it back.
This is the fifth time Chris Woakes has taken four or more wickets in a one-day international.

"Sarfraz felt like a lone ranger today - he stuck in and tried to keep this game going but there's been no-one to back him up."

"That really is mass exodus time from the ground for the Pakistan supporters."
Sarfraz c Buttler b Woakes 64 (Pak 181-9)
Sarfraz Ahmed's long vigil ends as he tries to work a slower ball away and feathers an edge to the wicketkeeper. After six wicketless ODIs, it's a day to remember for Chris Woakes who now has 4-33 from eight overs.

Hamish Reid: Can anyone explain what happens if the cat manages to field the ball inches from the boundary, stopping a certain four?
It's one for John Holder, the next time TMS do their popular "Ask The Umpire" feature during a lunch interval next summer...
Remember what I said about David Willey having a chance of an ODI five-for? He's been taken off and replaced by the wicketless Reece Topley. Sarfraz bludgeons a single to long-on, Yasir shows timing worthy of his lookalike Lionel Messi with a lofted cover drive which disappears for four. Topley blows out his unshaven cheeks in frustration.

"England need to be clinical. Being able to close out a game is a skill in itself. It's important not to let the game drift."
With Moeen having completed his spell (1-50), Chris Woakes returns at the Northern End. The game is long over as a contest - has been since before that multiple cat pitch invasion - but Pakistan are seeing if they can bat out the overs, in front of a dwindling crowd. Sarfraz adds a few twos - he has 62 from 71 balls.

David Wallace, Spain: My spies inform me that there's a fat lady being detained at Abu Dhabi Airport.
New batsman Yasir Shah strides to the middle and plays a perfectly straight bat to his first ball, which deflects away for a single. A two takes Sarfraz to 57 from 67 balls, he's not had much support today.

"He's a very watchable cricketer and he didn't let us down today. Something will always happen when Wahab is involved."

"No criticism for Wahab. He took a mighty swipe at it and it's a dolly catch."
