Sarfraz is going for it here, stepping back and whacking Moeen for a well-run three through point. He has 36 from 48 balls, Anwar has 11 from 20. But Pakistan need a few more overs like that if they're to get anywhere near this target.

"Pakistan are still looking to find the best players; they've quite happy to experiment. They're at that embryonic stage."
Joe Root, lying prone on the outfield, gets a quick visit and an impromptu massage from one of the England backroom staff between overs, Sarfraz comes down the track to heave Moeen over long-on for four, before an attempted sweep goes through the keeper's legs for four byes. A better start to the over for Pakistan.

Awais, Hemel Hempstead: Don't understand Pakistan selection. A guy who batted well at 5 in the last game is promoted to open. In the process you drop your opening batsman and 5th bowler. Shocking.
"Boom Boom Hafeez" reads a placard held up by some dancing Pakistan fans on the grassy bank, but their man was out for a duck today and it doesn't look like they'll be cheering at the end. The requisite four runs off the over.
Looking at the Pakistan squad, we're wondering while Asad Shafiq, who impressed in the Tests, isn't in this ODI squad - but his numbers are a little underwhelming after 58 ODIs.

"Pakistan choke after a couple of wickets go down. They don't throw in the towel straightaway but they don't seem to have a regular plan. They put the shutters down; a bit of a counter-punch would have worked."
Moeen switches to bowling round the wicket, Sarfraz is momentarily discomforted when he gets a leading edge trying to force the ball to leg, but the ball pops up into no-man's-land. Some canny bowling from Moeen keeps them to four singles off the over with the required rate now into double figures.

Matt, Hampshire: Re Harvey Griffith's comment (27 overs). I completely agree. However, I feel there is one stage between Test call-up and spirit crushed - it's yet another Twitter storm which occurs when he doesn't score two double hundreds on debut and those who called for him to be given a chance scream for him to be dropped.
Anwar and Sarfraz can use Topley's pace to deflect the ball away if he strays down the leg side, but Pakistan need boundaries, and for now they're not coming. Four singles and a leg bye from the over.

"It's just not consistent enough from Pakistan. Even though they bowled well in the last 10 overs, they didn't take that momentum forward."
Left-arm seamer Reece Topley back into the attack, so Sarfraz needs his helmet back. The keeper squeezes a single to the cover sweeper to bring up the Pakistan 100.

"Rashid has out-bowled Yasir Shah today. There's a lot that England can take from today."
I can't remember the last time I saw England, in any format, bowl more than 30 overs in two hours - but this is proof that it can be done... Anwar and Sarfraz are still proceeding in singles against Moeen, while Anwar flirts with danger when he cuts, gets an under-edge past the keeper and Topley can't cut it off running round from fine leg. Four runs, but 185 needed from 114 balls.

"As a bowler you just want to get through them - you don't want to be hanging around. England will like to clean this up and make it more clinical."
Rashid in for his last over, Pakistan pick off a couple of singles before one goes through Buttler's legs and they run three byes. The required run rate is nearly up to 10 per over. Rashid finishes with 1-32 from his 10 overs, his job done for the day.

Patrick Sawers: I'm having a lesson in Greece at a student's house who's sitting his English exam in 3 weeks. Every time I make him have a break to watch the cricket "he" gets a wicket! He's got three so far!
Sarfraz knocks Moeen for a single, Anwar looks a little perplexed against the off-spinner, shouldering arms to one spinning down the leg side and and eventually getting off the mark with a single. Sarfraz, perhaps sensing a lost cause, gets down to slog-sweep a four. The stadium DJ hasn't had many opportunities to crank up the music of late, but he does so here.

Anand Sangha: The reason we need to preserve with Rashid in the longer format is evident here. If he matures as a spinner, he can be an excellent player for England. Stick with him.
Anwar Ali is the new batsman. He pushes his second ball into the covers and gets more than halfway down the pitch before Sarfraz, who hadn't moved, sends him back! Not on the same wavelength at this stage.
