England coach Trevor Bayliss on Sky Sports: "I'm not sure if I've got the words for what I saw tonight from Jos Buttler - it wasn't just slogging, some of the shots were not in the coaching manual but he hit everything out of the middle.

"I thought our bowling was superb in the first three games, but tonight we were a bit short, we tried to do too much.

"There are some very talented boys in the dressing room and it's exciting times for English cricket. Any win is a good win, and to win away from home, here in the UAE against Pakistan, is one hell of an effort. I think it will give the boys a lot of confidence going forward. Winning is a habit and we want to develop it."

More from Jos Buttler on Sky Sports:"Jason Roy has played really well in the last two series and he really took the responsibility when he got past 50. I think we'll see him kick on into one hell of a player.

"It's great being a young group and having talent, but we do need to win and we've come here and done it and the confidence it gives us, you can't underestimate it."

More from Jos Buttler on Sky Sports: "I feel elated. It was a fantastic day. I don't really understand how it can turn around so fast - I was thinking of retiring two weeks ago! I think the format change came at the right time for me, to free me up - everyone's said I've been a bit more relaxed with the white ball around.

"It was Morgs's decision to promote me - he gave me the chance to chance my arm. In the last few overs, you try to never get too one-dimensional - there's a lot of shots that are 100% premeditated, but you have to have another option if the ball doesn't go where it wants to go."

  9. Man of the seriespublished at 18:37 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November 2015

Jos Buttler is named man of the series. He says: "It was really satisfying for me, and for us to win the series with this group of guys was fantastic.

"It was one of those days - it's amazing how cricket turns round. Only a few weeks ago I had a bad Test on this ground and got dropped from that side.

"Jason Roy played fantastically well, and we had a fantastic platform to accelerate from at the end. To get to a hundred was a really satisfying moment and one I'll remember for a long time."

  10. "Two big innings were missing there"published at 18:37

Pakistan captain Azhar Ali has spoken very honestly at the end of each game this series, and he's critical of his side once again.

"Somebody has to score a big hundred chasing 350, but two big innings were missing there. Everyone had a good start, going along with the run rate, but the big innings were missing.

"The series is a big loss - we played some bad cricket, we should have done a lot better. Credit to Buttler, but we could have done a lot better in the last few overs"

  11. Captain's viewpublished at 18:35 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November 2015

England captain Eoin Morgan: "It was an outstanding performance from the boys. It wasn't the easiest to bat on up front - Jos Buttler was outstanding, but he was set up by Jason Roy and Joe Root.

"The series has been a huge learning curve, but the best thing is that the performances have been shared around. Our top six have all contributed.

"Our spinners were brilliant today - they're learning as they go along, which is very important. We've got a lot of character in the dressing room."

Quite how you work out who gets the 'Trusted player of the series' award, I'm not sure. But it goes to Chris Woakes

And man of the series... well it's another big cheque for Jos Buttler.

  13. Awards timepublished at 18:29

There are as many awards to give out as a liberal school's sports day. Shoaib Malik gets 'most colourful innings'. By which I think they mean 'third most colourful innings'.

Because Jason Roy gets 'outstanding performance of the match', by which they mean 'second most outstanding performance of the match'.

Because Jos Buttler gets man of the match.

Plenty of points of note in a remarkable match

    • Buttler is only the third batsman to score two ODI hundreds coming in to bat after the 25th over of the innings. De Villiers (five) and Virat Kohli (two) are the others
    • Buttler's strike-rate of 223.07 is the highest for any England batsman in an innings of 50 or more
    • His eight sixes is the most by an England batsman in an ODI innings, beating the seven of Andrew Flintoff against West Indies in 2004
    • England have scored six ODI centuries in 73 balls or fewer in last 18 months (only one in 33 years before that)
    • Fastest ODI century against Pakistan (beating Sanath Jayasuriya's 48-ball ton for Sri Lanka in 1996)
    • First England player to score 100 runs in overs 41-50 of an ODI (also achieved by AB de Villiers and Rohit Sharma)
    • Highest ODI team total at Dubai (beating South Africa's 317-5 in November 2010). It is also England's highest score outside of England

Jos Buttler hit England's fastest one-day international century to lead them to an 84-run win over Pakistan in Sharjah and a 3-1 series victory.

Buttler reached three figures in 46 balls, beating the 61-ball hundred he made against Sri Lanka in May 2014.

The wicketkeeper hit 10 fours and eight sixes in his 116 not out from 52 balls as England posted 355-5.

Pakistan briefly threatened a thrilling chase, but were bowled out for 217, with Moeen Ali taking 3-54.
