"South Africa have their mojo back and are thinking positively again. They know they can bowl England out and if they can get Steyn fully fit it will be a really tough contest."

Flemming Jensen: Team scores 629 in 1st innings, salvages draw. England in a nutshell.

"Steven Finn is a tall man and could be a threat in Joburg where the ball carries. The important thing is not to bowl short and get the ball on an awkward length. He'll cause problems if he does that.

"The one who does give you concern is Jimmy Anderson. He looked rusty. His bowling didn't have any zip. Maybe he saw the pitch was flat and he just bowled line and length but he needed overs under his belt and he'll be hoping for a bit of movement because he's not genuine quick."

Simon Coston: Bairstow Motm? Anchored the first innings, ensured survival in the 2nd. 180* in the match? (forget the catches).

Very, very crafty from Jonny Bairstow. He's burrowed under the covers to retrieve a couple of stumps - probably one for him and one for Ben Stokes.

"It's a good contest. Johannesburg will be lovely for stroke-playing, but the quicks will get it through. They have to pitch it up. Spinners usually don't win matches there, it's the seamers."

There you go, the inevitable has happened. The players are shaking hands in the drizzle. This second Test is drawn, meaning England lead the series 1-0 with two matches to play.

"The catching is the worst aspect for England. They perhaps just need to treat this as a bad match for catching and hope to do better in the next Test. I don't think they can do much with their team, but the top order needs to be better."

"My player of the day is Chris Morris. He took a brilliant catch then bowled a beautiful delivery to get rid of Root."

"Moeen Ali has had no warm-up batting, then he was batting in a difficult situation. I was glad that he didn't get out. The top order is the problem. Until numbers two and three are settled, until the top four are really good, we'll win one, then we'll lose one."

Harry Burch: I like to think that England have got some dodgy batting out of their system at a good time in this series. On to Johannesburg

"We've had Robson and Lyth make hundreds and Hales may make a hundred too but he needs to show consistency with his defence and his shots. He needs to study the video and talk it through with someone so he can understand why he is in difficulty, why is footwork is not good enough."

I've heard a rumour (when I say heard a rumour, I mean I've read it on Twitter) that they are setting up the stage on the outfield. A sign that we're closer to the end.

"South Africa have confidence now and England have a contest on their hands in Johannesburg, Hales looks extremely vulnerable outside off stump, he got caught on the crease and was eventually out. And Steyn could come back if he's fit and he's even better than Morkel."

Geoffrey says that England's collapse was disappointing, but I'd call it oddly familiar. From 600 and plenty declared to 116-6 is pretty much this England team in microcosm. Lots and lots of talent, but lacking in consistency.

"There were near misses but they don't count in the end. It shows how momentum can turn around after Bavuma smacked the bowlers around and got the crowd on their feet. The cloud cover changed the situation and Morne Morkel bowled superbly and got the ball to move. But England's collapse was disappointing."

I've just been shown a live stream on Periscope of a puddle in the north east of England. The beauty of this stream is watching members of the public try to get across such a big body of water. It's strangely captivating. I think something similar would work for the covers in the middle of Newlands. I'd definitely watch a stream of the rain falling on the square.
