"The money had to be on the ball there. Jordan had to make 25-30 metres, it was over his shoulder and he's dived to take an amazing skier."

Incredible from Jordan. His bowling may be criticised but is there a better pair of hands in the England team? Stokes perhaps, but he can't be expected to do everything. De Villiers launched it way into the azure blue skies, yet Jordan tracked it and took it over his shoulder, too quick even for the cameraman to pick it up.

  5. 6 runs

SA 198-3 (De Villiers 71, Duminy 45)published at 40 overs

Boundaries in each of the last three overs now, Jordan's opening ball of the over smashed away for four by Duminy and De Villiers creaming a magnificent front foot pull all the way into the stands at mid-wicket to signal the 100 partnership.

"This is the time for South Africa. De Villiers has got himself into the position where he's ready to launch."

  7. SA 185-3 (De Villiers 63, Duminy 40)published at 39 overs

Expensive over from Stokes, pulled away by Duminy for four and guilty of dropping short. Geoffrey is not on commentary but his thoughts on that can somehow still be heard.

"Bairstow and Buttler are both very good batsmen, but their glovework is average. Once you get your mitts on the ball, you've got to catch it. Look at baseball - they catch everything. If we pick wicketkeepers who are brilliant, they're not going to bat like Buttler and Bairstow. But why isn't the wicketkeeping coach Bruce French out here full time?"

  9. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 38 overs

    SA 175-3 (Jordan 0-20 from 4)

Testing over for Jordan ends with wicketkeeper Buttler dropping a chance to his left from Duminy. De Villiers had earlier backed away skewed a boundary off the edge over the vacant slip cordon and Jordan followed it with a slower ball bouncer that was a wide down the leg-side.

David Schout: The Port Elizabeth trumpeters are playing some absolute tunes in the stands.

Saqib Rao: The crowd at Port Elizabeth are amazing - the atmosphere is great. So much energy, wish I was there.

  11. SA 167-3 (Moeen 0-41 from 10)published at 37 overs

A fine spell from Moeen, he has played his part admirably. So how are the final 13 overs going to play out? Who is going to keep it tight for England? So just 84 runs conceded and just the three boundaries in 20 overs of spin.

  12. drinks break

    SA 165-3 (De Villiers 53, Duminy 34)

Jordan settling into a neat enough back of a length. He is perhaps not threatening the batsmen but he it not being punished either. The highest ODI score made by a batsmen here is 135 from 129 balls by Pakistan's Saleem Elahi in December 2002, fair top say the highlight of his brief career. When is AB going to press the accelerator? He is going to have a drink to decide.

    Moeen AliImage source, Rex Features

Turn from Moeen appears at first glance to find Duminy's edge to slip but it was off the pad. The spinner is guilty of a wide down the leg-side but there have been few blemishes from the England slow bowlers thus far.

VillanUK: This is when you need Stuart Broad to break a partnership.

David L Ball: England are so strong in the middle order you can't help thinking that they would be at 220 already.

Bit on the short side from Jordan and this pitch gives the batsmen plenty of time. Just the 48th ODI fifty for De Villiers, from 72 balls this one. His scores prior to this game were 0-0-8, which I thought was an international dialling tone.

"David Miller's had a bad year - a lot of South Africans had a bad 2015, and he's had a run of low scores, although it's not easy at number six."

  18. Postpublished at 10:12 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2016

    Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"I look at South Africa's side and think 'how can they leave David Miller out'? He can be dangerous at this time. Unfortunately they haven't got many all-rounders, so you can't include too many batsmen who can't bowl. I like Chris Morris, but I wouldn't be paying a million dollars for him."

  19. SA 150-3 (Moeen 0-34 from 8)published at 33 overs

Moeen is in the groove now, Duminy cannot get him away. Only the fourth maiden of the innings.
