Do you feel for bowlers now, considering the demolition that they suffer in limited-overs cricket?

"Definitely. All you're trying to do is limit the damage, particularly on the subcontinent, that's why I was impressed with Willey and Topley this morning as they were bowling very good lengths and attacking the batsmen."

There has yet to be an England ODI century at PE Ed, so today would be an ideal time for Joe. Jordan finally into the attack, coming in for some criticism from our viewers today and a loosener of an over it has to be said, around the 135km/h mark. The fifty partnership arrives from 71 balls and the 150 is up.

Buzzers in the outfield not once but twice, the ever-aggressive Willey hurling throws in and neither can be stopped by the lanky Topley. The first one cost two extra runs, the second one raced away to the boundary. Even the mild-mannered Moeen might be uttering a few things about that off his bowling.

  7. SA 135-3 (Rashid 1-43 from 10)published at 30 overs

There have only been five scores of 300 or more in the 35 completed matches at PE, are we going to see some late fireworks here? The bearded Rashid has a slip in against Duminy and the batsmen have certainly not dominated him today, a fine spell from the Yorkshireman.

  8. SA 131-3 (De Villiers 43, Duminy 12)published at 29 overs

De Villiers has been unleashing the reverse sweep without huge success so far but this time he gets one away off Moeen, if slightly off balance, and it races away for his third boundary of the innings.

I am still hopeful of some more eighties singers emerging as club second XI stalwarts following the Rick Astley birthday tribute after 16 overs. Did Lionel Ritchie keep wicket for your side? Was Nik Kershaw a handy leg-spinning all-rounder? I partially ask this as we are dealing only in singles at present, with Rashid's radar still operating well.

After that first over that went for nine Moeen has kept the boundaries at bay too. He and Rashid both have their full names on the TV scorecard, even though there are no other Alis or Rashids playing in this match. Getting some turn here, Moeen. An appeal for lbw to Duminy but it was missing leg.

Thanks Higgy, it has been a while since I have been in the hot seat so I would have rather Mr Morgan had not got both spinners on but Rashid is keeping things tight, just the one boundary conceded thus far and just singles conceded in this one as South Africa prepare for the onslaught. England were 191-2 the other day after 25 overs.

"This is a nice period for England, the spinners are tying things down and we're seeing both batsmen having to dig in. If England can keep the pressure on, it might force a wicket."

The match remains more evenly poised than a drinking competition between David Boon and Merv Hughes. Two more singles.

Canny stuff from AB de Villiers, who guides Adil Rashid down to the third man boundary with a little swivel of his bat. I'm just wondering when Chris Jordan will get a bowl. Do England not fancy him? Or is he a new breed of death bowling specialist? Will he just bowl between overs 30 and 50?
