Jimbo: All over them like a Rash!...I'll get my coat.
England's spin twins have applied the choke move to South Africa now. It's slow going. If AB doesn't build on this stodgy start, the Proteas will wilt.
South Africa 98-3 (20 overs) - won toss
Batsmen: De Villiers 23*, Duminy 0*
Fall of wickets: 4-1 (Amla 4), 53-2 (De Kock 22), 98-3 (Du Plessis 46)
Bowling figures: Topley 4-1-20-1, Willey 5-2-22-0, Stokes 5-0-26-1, Rashid 5-0-21-1, Moeen 1-0-9-0.
JP Duminy is the new batsman to the crease. A man who need a score.

"It was a leg-break which took the edge, Jordan's a great slip fielder and he's even taken some better ones than that. It didn't turn prodigiously, but just enough - that's what Rashid's for. A slip's good to have as it stops the batsman reverse-paddling, but it also gets you a classical wicket like that."
du Plessis c Jordan b Rashid 46 (SA 98-3)
Adil, you little beauty, A bit of flight, a bit of drift, a hint of turn and Faf du Plessis gets a leading edge to Chris Jordan at slip. Next...
Moeen Ali is given a turn to... turn! It's a difficult start for the offie as AB de Villiers sweeps a gentle four. Nine from the over.

"We know what De Villiers can be like when he's set - but he's taking longer to get set today."
That's an interesting point from Neil Manthorp. Does it suggest that Faf is not as talented as others? Or does it matter little how he scores his runs - after all, he's closing on a run a ball 50 here? Seven from the over.

"Why does Faf du Plessis only use first gear in Test cricket? He just seems to struggle with the gearbox and doesn't rotate the strike - of all the top six batsmen to have played for SA in more than 30 ODIs, he's faced the most dot balls."

Marc Webb: Our best bowler @StuartBroad8, external doesn't get a game again, but Jordan gets another chance to prove he's not up to ODIs!
SA 78-2
Faf du Plessis shows the difference between the pros and us mere mortals. He gets a rib-tickler from Ben Stokes and has all the time in the world to get over it and poke it down to third man for a single. He then dances down the track like Lionel Richie (let's go with this 80s pop theme) and smears four through the covers. Drinks.

Steve, West Penge: Quick note to wish keen amateur cricketer Rick Astley a very happy half century, today. Rick's devotion to the West Penge Second XI was as legendary as it was to his lady: he wouldn't give us up, let us down or desert us. Not until he moved away in 2003 to get married, leaving us short an opening batsman.
Having a skillful bowler like Adil Rashid to come on and bowl in the middle overs is just as useful as having Jos Buttler at number four. He's always going to take wickets and, on difficult pitches like this, keep the scoring down. Again, just the five runs from the over.

"We're so close to the action here, I feel like I'm at Taunton. There's an awful lot of runs scored at the Wanderers and Centurion, but you don't really get those massive scores here at PE. I don't want 400 plays 400 every match, you want it now and again but the bowlers need to have a chance."
Chris Jordan is standing alone at third slip, trying to do the job of four men. To be fair, if anyone can... CJ can. Ben Stokes is bowling a heavy ball and AB de Villiers is happy to push gentle singles. Pick your battles and all that.

"The tempo's slightly different to Bloemfontein, but the cricket's just as fascinating."
It's looking like a masterstroke to send Adil Rashid to the Big Bash, rather than having him carry drinks in the Test series against SA. He's on the money early doors here - keeping South Africa's two best ODI batsmen quiet. Four singles from the over.
