David Wiese after drinks in the beautiful Cape Town sunshine. Alex Hales, as he has for some time, has a bit of blue tape at the front of his helmet. Scruffy. He's into the 90s with a single. Moeen plays a couple of handsome looking drives without piercing the field. England have taken only nine runs from the past three overs.

"This is a clever over from Rabada - lots of different deliveries which are all on the spot and bringing a response from the batsman."

  5. Eng 175-5 (Hales 89, Moeen 9)published at 32 overs

South Africa think they are on to something with the chin music to England, with Rabada trying a one-two punch of bumper-yorker to Moeen Ali. Since making 128 against Scotland at the World Cup last year, Moeen's highest score in ODIs is 21 not out. You can mull that fact over drinks.

It's 1992 at Queen Elizabeth Military Hospital, Woolwich in London and  Lance Corporal X has somehow managed to get a date with the most stunning QARANC nurse he has ever seen (officer too). Confession - she was so far out of my league, I called off the date as I had a Corps cricket match that day .... 'and would be required to attend the social function afterwards'. Truth is that I retired to the bar on my tod & drowned my sorrows as a gutless mumper. So much for self-confidence & carpe-diem.

    Eng 172-5

Ooohhh, almost strife for Alex Hales, who hooks a Kyle Abbott bouncer, with the ball falling just short of the sliding Chris Morris coming in from deep square leg. South Africa would do well to try Hales on the hook again. How much patient does the Notts man have? Not only to reach a century for himself, but also to lead England to a competitive total?

  8. Women's ODI: SA v Englandpublished at 10:16

    SA 125-6 (35 overs)

Lizelle Lee (41 from 44 balls) is proving to be the immovable object for England - she's hanging in there and has just hit the first six of the game.

  10. Eng 169-5 (Hales 87 from 93 balls)published at 30 overs

This one-day series has been a perfect example of Hales' Test weakness being a limited-overs strength. He scores so many runs behind square on the off side, this time guiding Rabada for a fourth boundary in that region. In the Test series, he so often came a cropper. Makes you wonder why South Africa don't pack that area.

  11. UAE v Ireland T20published at 10:11

Ireland, warming up for the World Twenty20, have slumped to 20-4 after six overs of their first Twenty20 match against the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi.

The O'Brien brothers (Kevin  and Niall) are seeking to rebuild the innings.

    Match scorecard.

  12. Eng 163-5 (run-rate 5.65)published at 29 overs

England were in similar strife in the fourth ODI, but were dug out by a Joe Root hundred. Plenty on the shoulders of Alex Hales now, who has been joined by Moeen Ali. This and the next partnership crucial for England. One or two more wickets and they will be deep in the soup. Moeen is away from his first ball, cutting Tahir for four.

    Buttler b Rabada 0 (Eng 156-5)

Bowled him! Jos Buttler loses his furniture from the first legal ball he's faced (the actual first one was a wide) and South Africa are bang on top now. Buttler's feet were stuck in cement to a full one from Kagiso Rabada, he failed to get fully forward and inside-edged on to middle and leg. A big wicket, the dangerman back in the shed for a blob.

Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"That was out of the blue, just when England were gathering a touch of momentum. That was another dismissal where you think 'oh no'. Rabada tried to bowl an off-spinner but it stayed straight and bowled him round his legs."

  17. Eng 156-4published at 27.5 overs

Just a moment ago, Jos Buttler was chatting to Eoin Morgan in the England dressing room, now he's in the middle under the sunshine. Looking at that Stokes wicket again, he was actually bowled middle stump, so that tells you how far he walked across....

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 27.5 overs

    Stokes b Rabada 29 (Eng 155-4)

Ben Stokes, what have you done? This is an awful way to get out, with Stokes moving so far across his stumps to be bowled around his legs by Kagiso Rabada. Stokes can't believe it, he throws his bat in the air as he walks off. Just as they were getting on top, England lose a wicket. A real bonus for South Africa.

JT: Can't help but feel for Taylor, in the form of his life in ODIs and the only man out of form is the captain.

Ashley Paul: There are definite question marks over Morgan. Perhaps now is the time for Captain Root? Look at Steve Smith for Australia.
