We have had the national anthems and the players are out in the centre, South Africa in their gold and green and England in that shade of red that no-one seems quite able to define. A small crowd to start with at 10am local time and England's teenage left-arm seamer Tash Farrant, returning to the side, will bowl.

Did you see those umpires? Bongani Jele is a fabulous name, sounds a bit like the stuff used to combat mouth ulcers, but that always seemed so stay stuck on the fingers. However, this young man is only 29. His opposite number is the rather more prosaically named Dennis Smith, also a South African, who is 44.

  10. England win the toss and bowlpublished at 07:43

Well England have won the first contest of the day, the toss, and they are going to bowl first.

  11. Postpublished at 07:42

This is the first time either team has played a T20 at the legendary Wanderers ground in Jo'burg, known as the Bullring because of its design and intimidating atmosphere, but at least the weather is friendly, although there is some cloud around, and we are all set for the toss.

We will see if South Africa's Chris Morris and the other big hitters tuck into an all-you-can eat carvery later and whether England's bowlers will be guilty of serving up some buffet bowling, but we start with the third and final women's T20.
