"India are quite a stylish side aren't they? Shikhar Dhawan has got that curled-moustache thing going... There's not many people with that look."

Have you seen the clips that have appeared lower down the page and on the highlights tab at the top? Wickets and sixes very much the order of the day. Ravi Jadeja, beard of Hank Scorpio, is on, finding big, big turn. Taylor survives an lbw shout, while Anderson is lucky an inside edge stops him from being stumped. Only nine overs to go. The Kiwis need to move.

Fenners: India all the way to win. Fancy Bangladesh to go well too. England semi-final at best.

  5. NZ 55-3 (Anderson 26, Taylor 7)published at 10 overs

Ashwin is back for his fourth and final over, taking us to the midway point. Off-breaks, 99 on his back, action like a man trying to free himself from a set of handcuffs. Ooohhh, lovely from Ross Taylor, picking the doosra and late-cutting for four. Ashwin takes his cap from 1-32.

"This is playing into MS Dhoni's hands. He and India still have so many bowling options. New Zealand are up against it - they've gone in with three spinners, but India won't be worried too much about that."

  7. NZ 49-3published at 9 overs

Still Raina, who is probably being employed while the left-handed Anderson is at the crease. MS Dhoni still has the left-arm tweak of Ravi Jadeja up his sleeve. Field spread, offering singles but not boundaries. Thinking more clearly, the Black Caps nudge and scamper. They've eased back from fifth to third gear, setting themselves for the late dash.

Shane: India are the favourites - it's in their backyard - but I can't help but feel the Kiwis are handing this game to them a bit here.

  9. NZ 42-3published at 8 overs

Still Bumrah, who is being roared to the crease by a wall of Indian noise. Anderson gets the Kiwis ticking again with a muscly biff down the ground for four, but only two more singles come from it. New Zealand have only scored nine runs from the past three overs.

"The real key for New Zealand in this whole tournament is how they adapt to spin. In their warm-up matches they were flying against the seamers but came unstuck against the spinners."

  11. NZ 35-3 (Raina 1-0-1-1)published at 7 overs

Oooowwwwzzzaaattttt?!?! New man Ross Taylor is greeted by an appeal, but it's hit him outside the line. Looking again at the Williamson dismissal, he was done by a lack of turn. It's always the ones that don't turn, isn't it?

"With Kane Williamson the main man going, that wicket is critical for India. He came down the wicket and maybe wafted the bat a bit rather than committing to his shot. India are very much in the lead here - they're causing lots of problems."

Williamson st Dhoni b Raina 8 (NZ 35-3)

Oh, skipper. What are you thinking? Kane Williamson temporarily loses his mind, advances towards Suresh Raina, basically does nothing and turns around just in time to see MS Dhoni whip the bails off. New Zealand are in strife here.

"Had New Zealand lost their third wicket they would be in all sorts of problems. These two now are starting to judge the pace now. It's not easy, but they've got just enough to work with. Against India, you need to get as many as you can."

India have got more spin than a cabinet minister, with the more-than-part-time offies of Suresh Raina into the attack. This Kiwi pair are still struggling to time it.

A new one for me is the lanky pace of Jasprit Bumrah, who sends the ball down with more arm than Mr Tickle. Shuffly run-up, decent wheels, enough bounce to hit the bat on the maker's name. Four dots to begin, including Anderson having to dive back in at the non-striker's end - he would have been gone had Kohli's throw hit. Terrific over from Bumrah. One from it. Powerplay done.

"The luxury for India is that they've pretty much got four spinners in their side - plus their seamers."

  19. NZ 32-2 (Williamson 6, Anderson 12)published at 5 overs

Curious and lucky from the stubbled Munro, who dances at Ashwin but only gets a leading edge into a vacant portion of the leg-side fence. Williamson, less likely to flap than an ostrich, has remained cool in the oven, calling Anderson through for a short single, with the Desperate Dan lookalike then sweeping another four. Breathless stuff.

"The ball's definitely not quite coming onto the bat. Batsmen now adjust so well though - they don't mind if they have to take a bit of time. Here the danger for New Zealand is that India can score just as freely."
