    Afridi c Mahmudullah b Taskin 49 (Pak 198-5)

Drat. Afridi falls just short of his landmark, picking out the man at deep square leg, but what an innings it's been. He's played brilliantly, coming in after with a very solid platform and turbo-charging this Pakistan innings with a fusillade of huge shots.

  2. Pak 197-4published at 19.2 overs

Taskin Ahmed to bowl the final over. Shoaib Malik is the new man but he puts his foot on the accelerator, cutting through point and then drilling down the ground for successive fours. Pressure on Taskin here...

"When Shahid Afridi is on song he is unstoppable. Some of his hits have been brutal. This is going to be a very big score. Bangladesh will be needing Tamim Iqbal to fire right from the start."

Rakesh Pradhan: Still expect Pakistan to throw this one away...

Yaser Arfat: Time will only tell if Pakistan can deliver the goods against India. However well played Pakistan.

    Pak 189-4published at 19 overs

Afridi is on a one-man destruction mission here. He flays Shakib through the covers for four, then baseballs him over long-on for a six! He's moved to 49 from just 18 deliveries, on track for the fastest fifty by a Pakistan batsman.

Shoaib Malik is the new man, and he gets off the mark with a single.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 17.5 overs

    U Akmal c Shakib b Taskin 0 (Pak 175-4)

A flying visit from Umar Akmal. He smashes his first ball straight to mid-off, then tries the same trick next ball and sends the ball straight into Shakib's breadbasket. Thanks for dropping by.

  9. Pak 175-3 (run rate 9.90)published at 18.3 overs

Afridi is on the charge here! The first ball of Taskin's over disappears over extra cover for a huge six. Boom Boom has 38 off 15...

Fenners: Good to see Shahid Afridi getting going. Bodes well for Hampshire later this year.

  11. Pak 168-3published at 17 overs

Afridi is not going to be deterred though. He slashes Sunny over third man for another boundary.

"Amazing! We've seen a few brilliant catches in this tournament over the years but Soumya Sarkar, take a bow. That is a stunner, top skills."

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.4 overs

    Hafeez c Sarkar b Sunny 64 (Pak 163-3)

A brilliant innings from Hafeez comes to an end, but this is all about the catch. Hafeez tries to blast Sunny over cow corner, it looks to be travelling for six, but right on the rope, Sarkar somehow reels in the catch, has the presence of mind to lob the ball in the air when his momentum takes him over the boundary, then shows nifty footwork to get himself back on the right side and collect the ball. Masterful.

We're going upstairs - I think Soumya Sarkar has pulled off an absolute blinder of a boundary catch here...

    Pak 157-2 (Hafeez 59, Afridi 25)published at 16 overs

Al-Amin Hossain is having a nightmare here. He's turned up to the biggest job interview of his life, and discovered he's not wearing any trousers. He tries to throw in a yorker, but Hafeez is wise to it and lap sweeps it for four. Then Al-Amin errs with a full toss, and Hafeez punches him clinically through the off side. Worse is to come though, as Afridi kabooms a full ball miles into the stands. 18 off the over, Bangladesh wilting.

"This is a really big game for Pakistan, coming off some poor form, but the senior players are now stepping up. He hasn't been in the best of nick of late but Shahid Afridi is starting well. Can he push Pakistan up to a monster total? The fans are loving this."

  18. 6 runs

    Pak 139-2published at 15 overs

Afridi dispatches a pull for four over square leg and then a cheeky bit of improv from the old stager, paddling fine down the leg side, earns him another boundary. He's just getting warmed up though! Mashrafe fires in a full toss and this time it goes the distance, flicked over square leg for a maximum.

    Pak 123-2

A scampered single gets Mohammad Hafeez to his fifty - his first in five World T20 tournaments, would you believe? Now Boom Boom steps up to the crease - what can he do?

  20. Pak 121-2published at 14 overs

Shahid Afridi is the new man, but that was a good over from Shabbir, just four from it.
