    Shehzad c Mahmudullah b Shabbir 52 (Pak 121-2)

Finally the breakthrough for Bangladesh. Shehzad eyes up the longest boundary on the pitch at midwicket and finds the man on the fence. Just didn't get quite enough elevation in the stroke. A superb innings though, and one that's put Pakistan firmly in charge. Now can Bangladesh mount a fightback?

50 for Shehzadpublished at 13 overs

    Pak 117-1

That's Shehzad's half-century - down leg from Mortaza and Shehzad pulls it very fine for four. Just 35 balls for the landmark - very breezy from the opener. Hafeez piles on the punishment with another four wide of long-on.

  4. Pak 106-1 (run rate 8.83)published at 12 overs

Al-Amin Hossain is tentatively re-introduced after a rather confidence-zapping first over in which he was smashed for 18. Shehzad has no intention of going easy though, swatting him behind square leg for four.

  6. Pak 99-1published at 11 overs

Hafeez rocks backs and bludgeons Shakib into the vacant area at cow corner for a one-bounce four. Some unusually sharp running also earns the Pakistani pair a couple of pairs in that over. One-way traffic at the moment...

  8. Pak 90-1 (Shehzad 38, Hafeez 32)published at 10 overs

That has absolutely pinged off the bat from Shehzad - deep in the crease and he works new bowler Shabbir wristily to cow corner. Two fielders riding that boundary but they can't get to it.

  9. Pak 83-1published at 9 overs

Shakib restores some much-needed order, targeting the leg stump and not allowing the Pakistan batters to free their arms. Six singles the result.

  10. Pak 77-1 (run rate 9.62)published at 8 overs

If you want something done properly, sometimes you have to do it yourself. That's what Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza reckons anyway - he's brought himself on to bowl.

He can't stem the flow though. First Shehzad pulls him behind square for four, then he finds the boundary at third man with the most delicate of late cuts. Bangladesh are in trouble here, 200 could be on the cards...

    Former Bangladesh all-rounder

"Yes Pakistan are in a good position to go on and score runs but things can change very quickly and Bangladesh have a very good recent record against Pakistan. I'm sure that will be running through the minds of these Bangladesh players. Which of them will be able to stand up and put pressure on the batting side?"

  13. Pak 65-1published at 7 overs

So, Pakistan bubbling along quite nicely at just over nine an over. If you like cookery programmes, I'd say this is a simmer rather than rolling boil.

Five tight deliveries from Sunny threaten to put a lid on this partnership, but Hafeez turns up the heat again with a huge six back over the head of the bowler.

  14. Pak 55-1 (Shehzad 18, Hafeez 17)published at 6 overs

Oh, that's lovely from Hafeez - he gets over the leg side and gives himself the room to whip a straight delivery from Shakib down the ground for four.

Then there's another tight single and as he dives to make his ground, Shehzad accidentally runs his bat into the toe of Mushfiqur. Nurse! The frozen peas!

  15. Pak 49-1published at 5.4 overs

Nope, Hafeez just got his toe down in time. Close, but no cigar for Mushfiqur.

  16. Third umpirepublished at 5.4 overs

The talismanic twirler Shakib al-Hasan, Bangladesh's most experienced and arguably best bowler, is into the attack. Now then, have we got a stumping? Hafeez advances down the track, misses the ball on the leg side, and Mushfiqur takes off the bails. We're going upstairs...

"Whenever the batsmen have gone to play big shots, they've come good. Conditions are excellent and Bangladesh will believe they can score highly too, but first they must not let Pakistan bat them out of the game. They can't allow this partnership to progress."

  18. Pak 44-1published at 5 overs

The old Pakistani running gremlins have returned here. For the second ball in succession there's nearly a run out as Hafeez hits it straight to short leg and sets off regardless. The spirit of Inzi...

Shehzad decides it may be advisable to take a more low-energy approach to run-scoring and lofts Sunny over extra cover for four.

  19. Pak 38-1 (run rate 9.50)published at 4 overs

A nice blend of youth and experience for Pakistan now, with 35-year-old veteran Hafeez joining 24-year-old whippersnapper Shehzad in partnership. The Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones of Pakistani cricket, if you will.

Shehzad bisects the field on the off-side and collects four. There's a brief alarm off the final ball as a Bangladesh throw hits the timbers, but Hafeez was comfortably home.

  20. 6 runs

    Pak 32-1published at 3 overs

Mohammad Hafeez is the new man, and he's not hanging around! Second ball he swats Sunny back over his head for six.
