  1. 6 runs

    Afg 17-0published at 1.1 overs

Shahzad is on a mission. He stands, Kyle Abbott delivers and the batsman deposits the ball over midwicket. Cracking entertainment.

  2. Afg 11-0published at 1 overs

Rabada rallies and keeps Shahzad in check for the remainder of the over. Looks like JP Duminy's day is over. He is hobbling off, holding his hamstring. Good fielder, Duminy. That is a blow.

  3. 6 runs

    Afg 10-0published at 0.3 overs

Well, what a start. Second ball is swiped and sliced over third man for six by Shahzad, who then hammers one high and wide into the off side for four. He's taking no prisoners, the big Afghan opener.

Kagiso Rabada will bowl the first over...

The SA players gather in a huddle on the pitch. You can imagine the theme of the team-talk - "Remember the England game? Don't do that."

Here comes the burly Mohammad Shahzad and partner Noor Ali.

For the record, I really don't think South Africa are going to lose this game. Even on a wicket like this, that total looks too big against a side whose bowling is superior to their batting.

One is for certain, though, Afghanistan will have a go.

Cheers James. Well, if South Africa were shell-shocked after scoring over 200 and losing to England the other day, just imagine how they will feel if another 200+ total proves not enough today?

It was another breathtaking innings from AB de Villiers. Just look at his final eight balls. Like someone's prison number...

  11. Captain's viewpublished at 11:12

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis: "We're pretty happy with that total. Now it's all about taking some lessons from other evening."

"If Afghanistan go for it - and they are bound to - they could find themselves five-down in no time. In that case, South Africa's net run-rate mushrooms, which could be significant."

  14. 6 runs

    SA 209-5published at 20 overs

Aaaand...Duminy muscles the final ball over the ropes for six. South Africa will be happy with that, it's the sixth highest score in World T20 history. Then again, if last night is anything to go by, they're about 20 short.

"It went up a long way but he caught it easily. But Miller has done what he was required to do."

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.5 overs

    Miller c Gulbadin b Dawlat 19 (SA 203-5)

The ball after carving Dawlat through point for four, Miller hits a slower ball up in the air and Gulbadin takes a very good catch.

  17. 6 runs

    SA 199-4published at 19.3 overs

Dawlat to bowl the final over, and that's an interesting call - he's been leaky so far. Yep, that's right in the slot and Miller, feet like a statue, arms like a woodchopper, slugs him over long-on for a big six.

"All in all, it has been a good display by Afghanistan in the field. They are playing on the bowlers' graveyard of the tournament. The par scores here will be 40 or 50 higher than the tournament average."

  19. SA 189-4published at 19 overs

Shapoor back into the attack. He keeps it admirably tight for the first five balls, but then inexperience shows as he digs in a short ball and the flying bat of Miller deflects it unintentionally over the keeper for a one-bounce four.

  20. SA 179-4 (Duminy 19, Miller 1)published at 18 overs

David Miller is the new man. JP Duminy sweeps Nabi fine for four.
