"It is a tough ask but it is a good wicket, we have seen some brilliant shots and there is opportunity there. Pakistan do have some batters but it is going to be a good test."

  2. Aus 193-4published at 20 overs

Australia will be very happy with that. Pakistan have a helluva chase on their hands, but at least have a good deck on which to do it. If they don't, they're out.

Catch it in the crowd! Swiped over cow by Watson. He's got 44 from 20 balls.

  4. Aus 186-4published at 19.4 overs

Luck for Watson. Completely done by a slower ball, but a top edge goes to third man for four.

  5. Aus 182-4published at 19.3 overs

Last over, Mohammad Amir. Decent stuff. Only three off the first three balls.

"You can play the best shots in the world but you have got to make sure they beat the fielders and that is what Smith is doing."

  7. Aus 179-4published at 19 overs

This is the most incredible shot you'll ever see. Smith takes guard miles outside off stump - he knows Wahab is trying to bowl wide because that is where the fielders are. Even after the ball is bowled, he moves further to the off side, so much so he's almost on a different pitch, and still manages to take four through mid-wicket. The man has rubber wrists. If Wahab had bowled that at the stumps, he'd have had no chance.

"This cameo from Watson has got them up to a tasty score, they could still be looking at 200."

  9. Aus 172-4published at 18.3 overs

More loose stuff. A full toss from Wahab. Watson four over cover. 50 partnership in 29 balls.

Francis Edwards: Great to see Smith play a good knock in this format. Best Test batsman and proven himself to be very versatile too.

  11. Aus 167-4published at 18 overs

Pakistan are all over the show here. On a good deck, Sami is inexplicably banging the ball in. I can't remember seeing a yorker attempted. Too short, Smith cuts for four. Australia have taken 32 from the past two overs.

Watto! He should retire every day! Leans back and slaps Mohammad Sami over cover for six.

"I have really liked Smith's busy-ness, working the ball into gaps and he has been aggressive all the way through and kept cool when the wickets have fallen."

    Aus 153-4

Well batted, skipper. 50 from 35 balls for Smith. His second in T20s.

"This is great stuff, what I like about Watson is that base he gets himself into, he reminds me of Matt Hayden with that big stature and power."

  16. Aus 152-4 (1-1-4-1-6-4)published at 17 overs

Mohammad Amir has the ball back in his hand, the white leather looking like it has been on a cheese grater. Oh dear, who is that out at deep cover? Khalid Latif letting the ball through his hands and away for four. Awful from the fielder, awesome from Watson, who heaves over mid-wicket for six, then slices to third man for four. 17 from the over. A biggie. Australia moving out of sight.

"If you are a Pakistan batsman you will not be unhappy with this pitch, the ball hasn't turned much and it is coming on nicely with true bounce. Australia would like to get near the 190 mark but if Pakistan get them nearer 180 they will be happy."

  18. Aus 135-4 (Wahab 3-0-23-2)published at 16 overs

Ebony has a point there, Watto is the last link to the great Australian team of the early 2000s. No wonder he doesn't want to play with David Warner anymore. Wahab Riaz, who apparently owns a restaurant in Lahore, is back, met with a trademark Watson hook for four. Enjoy them while they last.

"Watson is probably the last player from that era of Warne and McGrath. I heard he made his decision while looking up at the Dharamsala hills and you do get that moment when you think 'this is it.' I am sure he will hope to go out with a bang."

  20. Aus 127-4 (Smith 42 from 28)published at 15 overs

Aussie captain Steve Smith had only passed 20 once in his five previous T20s. Now he's closing on a half-century. This is a very good over from Shahid Afridi, mind, only three singles from it. Five to go.
