"Afridi bowls that quicker spin which kicks on and it has been difficult for the batsmen to play the big shots."

  2. Aus 57-2published at 7 overs

Spin for the first time, Shahid Afridi's lightning-armed leg-breaks. Bustling approach, line straight as a ruler, lots of overspin, the ball just suggesting to nip this way and that. Five singles from it. Top over from the skip.

  4. Aus 52-2 (Wahab 2-0-21-2)published at 6 overs

Looking again, Wahab's pace had Warner's feet stuck in concrete. The red bails flew off the stumps like lights exploding off a Christmas tree. 92 mph. Quick. Steve Smith is the new man. Hello, you don't see this very often, Smith works it into the leg side and Australia run four. Shahid Afridi is angrier than a swarm of hornets.

"It doesn't get any better than that. The pace on that was 90mph plus, it was so quick and accurate."

    Warner b Wahab 9 (Aus 42-2)

Bowled him! That's serious pace from Wahab Riaz, through David Warner quicker than a hiccup and clattering into the top of middle stump. Warner ends up bent double, as if someone has crept up behind him and whipped his trousers down. In a cricketing sense, he's definitely been kegged.

James: Once took a cricket set to Italy to see if I could get some locals together for a game. They were more excited about wearing all white as it was bang on trend that summer.

  8. Aus 42-1published at 5 overs

Mohammad Sami comes back but gets more tap, the burly Finch (I think we have to call him burly) forcing off the back foot over point for four. Leftie Warner also belts through point for a boundary. Sami, who doesn't look unlike the Grinch, mops his brow. I'd be sweating too.

"Wahab is close to 90mph. His run-up is so smooth and just brilliant to watch. Interesting over, a couple of boundaries, some brilliant balls and a wicket."

  10. Aus 32-1 (Wahab 1-0-11-1)published at 4 overs

That six/wicket stopped me from engaging in those tweets below. Chris's lost helmet makes me think of odd places you have found/seen cricket equipment. Didn't one of the baddies wear a pair of batting gloves in an old episode of Doctor Who? David Warner the new man, promoted up to three, cutting Wahab for four.

"It was a set-up. The short ball, the next one a slower delivery and then the yorker, that's a quality bowler."

    Khawaja b Wahab 21 (Aus 28-1)

Bowled him! Wahab Riaz has his revenge and Usman Khawaja has his furniture rearranged. Khawaja looks to give himself room, but is done by a yorker, the ball screaming under the bat and making a right old mess of the timber. Mayhem in the crowd, too.

Oh yes! Sixer. Short from new bowler Wahab Riaz, Khawaja swatted over square leg for the first maximum. Up at 90mph too.

Scott Fowler: Left Glasgow at 5am to be in Devon for 4pm for a T20 match with Wing cc that time included a quick stop for a hair cut en-route.

Chris Curtis: Whilst coming back from school cricket tour in Cornwall, the minibus left my helmet somewhere on the M5 motorway.

  15. Aus 21-0 (Khawaja 15, Finch 3)published at 3 overs

Still the wirey, whippy Amir, sliding in with the soundtrack of no little noise. Finch, most unlike a man who has been sitting on the sidelines for a week, stands up to punch through the covers, the ball racing across a very fast outfield. Umar Akmal has to pull out the footwork of Michael Flatley on the cover boundary.

The presence of the Test Match Special team in Chandigarh today is a top effort, considering they were in Dharamsala for the England women's game last night. That's a 250km journey. Do let me know of any epic journeys you have travelled in the name of cricket. Or any times you have taken cricket equipment with you. Once, one holiday in Spain, I found my box in my suitcase.

"You talk about bowling in partnerships and that was a really poor ball to start with from Sami. He has got a bit of work to do to tidy things up."

  18. Aus 10-0published at 1.2 overs

My gaffer is playing tricks with me, he's now put the line-ups in the right order. He's making me look a fool. Mohammad Sami, 35 years young, shares the new ball, immediately dropping short for Khawaja to hook for four.

"Amir caused a few problems there nipping it away from the left-hander. Good start from Pakistan, I think they'll feel very happy with that."

  20. Aus 5-0published at 1 over

Amir, moving the ball away from the left-hander, makes the recently Bradman-like Khawaja look more like the man we know and love. Awful. Three play and misses, then a thick edge that somehow reaches the cover fence.
