Mardenski: Got tissues ready and beers in the fridge. Beers or tears.

Rob Latham: 1 run from the first over of a T20 match. Classic England.

The Wankhede (don't laugh) Stadium is far, far from full. There's the odd horn of noise, but hardly a roaring atmosphere. Badree fires the ball in, barely looking to turn it, with England heaving and slapping without getting the ball through the in-field. The fidgety men in pink have only five from two.

"We're going to see this leg spin from Samuel Badree. He's got an unorthodox technique - the ball coming out of the back of the hand, slightly unusual. For those who haven't played him before, like Jason Roy, it might be a bit of an ordeal."

Spin from the other end, the leggies of Samuel Badree.

Taylor has a loose-limbed, striving run-up, and the right-armer is getting it to nip a little off the surface. Hales and Roy (who sound like they could be a cabaret duo on Blackpool pier) do a little dance in the middle then turn down a single. Only one from the first over.

"West Indies are a really interesting side - just about everyone bowls. Chris Gayle doesn't very often nowadays, but the rest can all toss the ball. Not many specialist batsmen though. Is the ball going to move around? West Indies obviously think so - they've got not one at slip but two."

The Windies have a cuddle, gathering around popular skipper Darren Sammy, the man with a permasmile. Jerome Taylor marks out his run-up as Alex Hales and Jason Roy make their way to the middle.

Dom Ford: The West Indies led by Darren Sammy look like the most chilled lads! How T20 should be played, always enjoying it!

The news from Chennai - in a game from England's group - is that Pakistan have won the toss and elected to field.

Joe Root belts out God Save the Queen. He's always struck me as a patriot. Rally Round the West Indies is a fun, jaunty number. Not enough to get a smile from Chris Gayle, mind.

If the pitch does play how we think it will, then you'd have to think that will suit England. Bowlers who will nip it around, batsmen used to the ball doing a bit. Then again, Chris Gayle never worries what the ball is doing, does he?

"Looking at the pitch there is lime green grass - if this was in England you'd think: Blimey it's going to zing around all over the place. It's not going to turn square like at Nagpur."

Also, an ongoing theme of this World T20 will be how you manage to watch the highlights while not risking the wrath of the boss/teacher/mother-in-law/other half. Keep letting me know where you're following from. One day, I might even stick in a pic of the live text desk.
