  1. WI 57-2 (66 needed from 60 balls)published at 10 overs

Tahir scurries in again with his angled approach to the crease. The straight boundary is 85 metres and there are no risks being taken, content to keep taking the singles. South Africa were 57-5 at this point.

    Former West Indies pace bowler

"South Africa need to build dots and, around that, take wickets. Tahir is their best option."

  3. WI 51-2published at 9 overs

Samuels passes 1,000 T20 runs, only the second West Indian to do after a certain CH Gayle, who has 1,510. Measured stuff from the Windies though, content to milk Phangiso.

  4. WI 45-2published at 8 overs

A deft flick off the pads by Samuels from the final ball of Wiese's over trickles away for a boundary, the first since the fourth over.

  5. WI 38-2published at 7 overs

Aaron Phangiso is the new bowler, darting in his slow left-armers from a wide angle and only conceding the one single. Another run-out would not be a major surprise with these two batsmen.

Suggest young Topley could take a leaf out of even younger Rabada’s book?

    Andrew in Perthshire

  7. WI 37-2 (86 needed from 84 balls)published at 6 overs

Steady stuff from seamer David Wiese and there is more uncertainty with the running between the wickets. The end of the powerplay overs and South Africa were 39-3 at the same stage.

  8. wicket

Fletcher run out 11 (WI 34-2)

A mid-pitch mix-up and Rilee Rossouw scores a direct hit with his lazer-like throw from backward point. Marlon Samuels the new man.

You can watch the dismissal of Chris Gayle - and listen to the dismay from the crowd - by going to the highlights tab now.

  10. WI 32-1published at 5 overs

Luxuriantly bearded leg-spinner Imran Tahir into the attack, he thinks he has Fletcher caught behind from a long hop but no response from umpire Kettleborough. Only two singles conceded though.

  11. WI 30-1 (93 needed from 16 overs)published at 4 overs

All manner of insects buzzing around under the lights in the night sky. Morris is a feisty customer and he goes for the threat to throw at the stumps the ball after being clipped to the mid-wicket boundary by Charles. It is spirited stuff but the final ball also goes for four, clubbed mercilessly by Charles.

  12. 6 runs

    WI 19-1published at 3 overs

It had been a steady over from Rabada but the final ball was pitched up and Fletcher got underneath it, clubbing it over long-on for the maximum.

"New Zealand defended 126 right at the beginning of the Super 10s at this very ground, India falling short by 47 runs. It's not turning as much as it did then but it is turning."

  14. WI 8-1 (target 123)published at 2 overs

Combative seamer Chris Morris continues the pace and he is finding some swing too. Just two singles and a wide.

JoElle: And with one mighty leap he… fails.

  16. WI 5-1published at 1 over

What a start from young Rabada, who became the youngest South Africa bowler to take seven wickets in an innings in a Test match against England in January. Andre Fletcher is the new batsman.

"Now we have a match suddenly! Sensational from young Rabada. The ball before was pitched up and Gayle went for it down the leg side, but Rabada wasn't afraid to pitch it up again. He missed it by a long way, Gayle."

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 0.5 overs

    Gayle b Rabada 4 (WI 5-1)

But the big man is dispatched. The crowd cannot believe it. Some swing from the young paceman, Gayle was nowhere near it and the ball ripped through the gate and knocked back the off stump.

  19. WI 5-1published at 0.4 overs

There is a massive surge of excitement even with the completion of a leg bye because the crowd know Gayle will be on strike. He starts with an ultra casual flick off his toes for four.
