    Nick Knight
    Former England batsman

"The slower ball just stuck in the pitch enough, he couldn't quite get the connection and it went a long way up."

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 17.2 overs

    Wiese c Sammy b Bravo 28 (SA 112-7)

The Dwayne Bravo slower ball does it again, outfoxing David Wiese. His big shot goes straight up, miles high, into orbit and coming down with ice on it. Darren Sammy settles himself and takes the catch. Another wicket and another dot ball.

Raymond Eady: As I should be in Barbados this weekend but am not (sob) I'm cheering big for the Windies.

  4. SA 108-6published at 17 overs

Badree recovers well, skidding the ball on to the bat. Two singles from the final three balls. More music, the beat of a drum and bass club. Or a man hitting a car bonnet with a sledgehammer, whichever you prefer.

    Daren Ganga
    Former West Indies captain

"I'm not particularly impressed with Badree bowling at this time, it is not a usual role for him."

  6. SA 106-6published at 16.3 overs

Samuel Badree, wearing a red watch the size of a television, comes back, some rare death overs for the leggie. Ayup, is Morris about to do the bizo? Sweep, then pull. Back-to-back boundaries.

Amy in Worcester: I agree with James (14 overs). This Windies team has the spirit and quality required in the test team....Jason Holder cant even get into this team. I wonder if the WICB will take notice!

  8. SA 98-6published at 16 overs

Chris Morris the new man. England know all about what he can do with the bat. Even when they're not playing, can he put the hurt on Eoin Morgan's men?

    Russel Arnold
    Former Sri Lanka all-rounder

"Big blow for South Africa, there would have been a lot of hopes on Quinton de Kock."

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15.4 overs

    De Kock b Russell 47 (SA 97-6)

Gone this time! Quinton de Kock's lone hand is over, the opener trying to force the pace but losing his leg stump to Andre Russell. Looking for the sweep against pacer, De Kock gets too far across, misses the ball and is bowled. A big moment for South Africa to lose the man who could have done their accelerating.

    Russel Arnold
    Former Sri Lanka all-rounder

"We had Dale Steyn sprinting on to the ground to deliver a message to the batsmen. I'm sure it would be to try to get to 140, maybe 150 and then fight with that total."

  12. SA 91-5 (De Kock 42 from 43)published at 15 overs

More spin, exactly what is needed on this deck. Even when Benn bowls a full bunger, De Kock can't get it away. With the leg-side field set back to a long boundary, QDK can't find the fence. His 43-ball stay has included only two fours and a six.

    Shaun Pollock
    Ex-South Africa captain

"Sammy would have been unaware what a good total was on this pitch so he wanted South Africa to bat first."

  14. SA 85-5published at 14 overs

Gayle gets another over, with South Africa finally moving through a Wiese reverse-sweep for four. You feel that South Africa should really be targeting Gayle, but the lack of pace in the pitch makes it tough. Six to go. If South Africa are going to pull a rabbit from somewhere, they had better do it soon.

James in Dorset: This kind of performance from the Windies actually annoys me as it shows what their Test team could be capable of if the board/players pulled in the same direction.

  16. SA 78-5 (Benn 3-0-15-0)published at 13 overs

More Benn, South Africa having to deal in singles. The push will come eventually, but it's being delayed by the amount of wickets lost. Loopy, flighty, stick-in-the-pitchy, only four from the over.

    Shaun Pollock
    Ex-South Africa captain

"If South Africa don't win they are going to have to rely on net run-rate and in a game where they are 72-5, one wonders how positive a run-rate they are going to have."

  18. SA 74-5 (De Kock 34 from 32)published at 12 overs

Do any of the West Indies players bother wearing a cap? If not, it confirms that caps aren't cool, man. Carlos Brathwaite on, more box-of-tricks slower-ball stuff. Quinton de Kock breathes hard, sweating more than a Russian athlete in a drugs test. There's been only one boundary since the fifth over.

Dave Jackson: Re Francis Edwards (10 overs). I think it's unfair to say the groups are unbalanced. New Zealand have looked like the only the good team in the other group. So one decent team, One associate nation and three underperforming teams each.

  20. Missed stumpingpublished at 11 overs

    SA 66-5

I think West Indies have exclusively bowled spin from one end and pace from the other. The mechanical left-armers of Suliemann Benn back on, a scowl on his face. This won't improve it, either. David Wiese is totally done and Denesh Ramdin misses a very tricky stumping chance. Ramdin claps his gloves together. Don't clap, Denesh, catch the ball.
