  • Refresh to watch in-play highlights

  • Stafanie Taylor 3-26 for West Indies

  • Britney Cooper made 61 earlier

  1. WI 90-2 (run rate 6.92)published at 13 overs

Deandra Dottin, probably the most powerful player in the women's game, is the new batter. New Zealand captain Suzie Bates brings herself on to bowl, and is immediately hit for four over square leg. That's very clever from Cooper, stepping over to off and scooping Bates behind square on the leg side for four. This could be a telling innings...

"Stafanie Taylor will be disappointed with that. She literally threw herself off her feet, all a bit messy really.

"What Taylor has done is lay a good platform, I think even with her gone they could get something decent."

    Taylor c Perkins b Devine 25 (WI 78-2)

Finally New Zealand make the breakthrough. Taylor tries to heave Devine over the leg side, swings herself off her feet and presents Katie Perkins with a simple catch at midwicket.

"That was full commitment. I have done a few dives in my career and I wasn’t that low and that flat. I was run out once, batting with Charlotte Edwards, and it was not as graceful as that I tell you that much."

  5. WI 73-1published at 11 overs

But they haven't, Cooper dives in and just beats the throw. Good running. That wicket remains frustratingly elusive for New Zealand...

Have we got a run out here? New Zealand think they might have got Britney Cooper...

"I think the key is Cooper is continuing with her aggressive approach. Bermingham is bowling well, I just think it is the pitch that is not helping her."

  8. WI 70-1published at 10.3 overs

That is top, top fielding from Sara McGlashan, saving two runs with a brilliant diving stop on the rope. But there's no stopping that one, very lucky for West Indies, Cooper beaten all ends up by Bermingham but the edge flies through the vacant slip region and trundles away for four. This is now Britney Cooper's highest score in 45 T20 internationals.

  10. WI 63-1 (Taylor 22, Cooper 25)published at 10 overs

All-rounder Sophie Devine, purveyor of medium pace and one of New Zealand's big players, enters the attack. Ooh, that's close, Suzie Bates from mid-off, just missing the stumps with Taylor well short of her ground.

"I think the West Indies have finally found a role for Cooper. She has been around for a few years but today, when given the chance to express herself, she is playing a vital role."

  13. WI 58-1published at 9 overs

As it has throughout this tournament, spin is looking harder to score off than pace, so Suzie Bates introduces the leg-breaks of Erin Bermingham. And it so nearly pays off instantly as Cooper skies one off the outside edge - it hangs in the air for ages, but falls safe. And she takes full advantage of her good fortune, lofting Bermingham down the ground for four. This is a good start for West Indies, New Zealand will be worried.

I think West Indies' men will be watching this with huge grins on their faces. They'd have been wary of playing India later on a raging turner, but this pitch looks an absolute belter for the batsmen. Kasperek does well to tie the Windies' women down in this over, just four singles from it.

"I think this will be a game where we see runs scored all around the ground. The key will be field placing, keeping things tight."

  17. WI 44-1published at 7 overs

Nielsen to bowl out for New Zealand. Momentary alarm for West Indies as a dodgy bit of running nearly strands Cooper, but the throw misses the stumps.

"That was a fabulous shot, lofted over extra cover. Kasperek may be the leading wicket taker but they decided she was going to go in that over."

  19. WI 40-1 (Taylor 13, Cooper 11)published at 6 overs

Top, top bandana from Britney Cooper, a red number under the helmet, rather reminiscent of the French tennis player Arnaud Clement. Not that he used to wear a helmet, of course - not until he went home on his moped, anyway. Lovely shot from Cooper, too wide from spinner Leigh Kasperek and Cooper frees her arms and lofts her inside out over the covers for four. That's been a very productive areas for the Windies so far. And she picks up another boundary over mid-off. New Zealand in a spot of bother here.
