"130, 140 would be a very good score today. You saw with the England Australia game yesterday you can score quickly in the Powerplay but the slow bowlers in the middle overs dry it up."

  2. WI 31-1published at 5 overs

Nielsen has been more economical than a reused teabag this tournament, conceding an average of just over three runs an over. And this over is a typical one, costing just three singles and reining West Indies back in after a fast start.

  3. Joyce resigns as Ireland captainpublished at 10:16 British Summer Time 31 March 2016

Isobel Joyce has stepped down as captain following Ireland's exit at the group stages of the Women's World Twenty20 in India.

"It's been an honour and a privilege to captain my country for the last six years," said 32-year-old Joyce, who made her debut in 1999.

"I've played cricket for Ireland for over half of my life and while I have not decided when I will call time on my playing career, I feel it's time to step aside and help a younger leader to learn the role before I do eventually retire."

The decision as to who replaces Joyce as skipper will be taken in the coming weeks.

  4. WI 28-1 (run rate 7.00)published at 4 overs

A lovely back-foot drive from Taylor races through the covers for her first boundary. Tahuhu has been expensive, and when she again offers too much width, Taylor isn't going to miss out, hammering past point for another four. The captain already looks like a key wicket...

"It was a good delivery, above the eye line. Matthews was playing around her pad. It’s a good wicket for New Zealand, they needed it because the West Indies had good momentum."

    Matthews lbw b Nielsen 16 (WI 18-1)

Morna Nielsen hasn't got a lot of wickets in this tournament but this time she's done the trick. It's the fast-starting Hayley Matthews, looking to play across and snared by a straightening delivery.

  9. WI 16-0 (Matthews 15, Taylor 1)published at 2 overs

Lea Tahuhu, a medium-fast bowler, opens up from the other end. That's a beautiful stroke from Matthews, pure timing through the covers, and it races away for the first boundary. Matthews then gets a bit lucky, surprised by a bit of extra bounce and fencing at it, the edge just evades Erin Bermingham at slip. Rapid start for West Indies.

"When you see wickets like this, doesn't it make you want to bat? It is not a day to be a bowler."

  11. WI 5-0published at 1 over

A nice start for Hayley Matthews, cutting the first ball hard and picking up two with some strong running. It was a real feature of England's defeat yesterday that they didn't run the twos - those extra runs can be so crucial. But New Zealand look sharp too, rattling the stumps with a direct hit in the field, though Matthews is safely home.

Right, here we go then. Hayley Matthews and Stafanie Taylor striding out for West Indies, and slow left-armer Morna Nielsen is going to take the ball...

  14. Anthem watchpublished at 09:55

We're having the anthems now. Some good lusty singing from the West Indies, less so from the New Zealanders, though to be fair they do have to memorise lyrics in Maori and English.

"What I like about New Zealand is the balance they have. They are aggressive with the bat and have variation with the ball. I think New Zealand, on paper, should take this but you never take the West Indies out of the reckoning."

Plenty of pride at stake for New Zealand. Like the men's side, they've won every group game comfortably. But they'll be hoping to avoid the fate that befell the Kiwi fellas yesterday, when they were steamrollered in the semis.

West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor: "We would have wanted to bat first and get something on the board and give our bowlers something to bowl at."

  20. Captain's viewpublished at 09:46 British Summer Time 31 March 2016

Suzie Bates, New Zealand captain at the toss: "We haven’t played at Mumbai so we want to get out here with the ball and restrict them to something we can chase down.

"It doesn’t matter what we have done leading up to semi-final, we have just got to focus on today."
