"We've got a good crowd and a fighting Sri Lanka, which is what we want."
The players are out there - Commander of the British Empire Alastair Cook is commanding his troops. Stuart Broad is marking out his run-up and Kaushal Silva is doing some shadow batting. Three slips.
I'm just wondering what letters you could add after the names of other cricketers. Shane Watson DRS? Geoffrey Boycott COU (corridor of uncertainty)?
Stuart Broad MBE: "I'm hugely proud, personally and for my family. It's for my mum and dad who gave me all that enthusiasm as a kid.
"The last two or three years have been very special. We've had tough times, but now it's a team that just wants to entertain the public.
"We turn up each day not knowing what's going to happen, but that's refreshing."
England captain Alastair Cook on being made a CBE: "It's a huge honour that I'm very proud of and so are my family. It's always a slightly surreal feeling when everyone is saying congratulations and you haven't actually done anything.
"To be 'upgraded' to a CBE is very special. I'm probably getting the recognition for the success of the team.
"Without family, without a grounding behind you and 100% support, it wouldn't be possible."
Be upstanding, Alastair Cook CBE and Stuart Broad MBE have been speaking to TMS...
BBC Weather's Ben Rich: "We have a greater chance of seeing some showers today. It's bright enough at the minute but as we go through the afternoon there's an increasing risk of rain.
"It's going to be an all-or-nothing sort of day. If one shower does turn up, it could be there for some time and we will really know about it and there may be some rumbles of thunder."
Alec Stewart
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
"I've seen improvement from the winter to the summer. He needs to improve more. He will put the work in.
"You've also got to be thick-skinned. It's like a goalkeeper - people expect you to catch every ball. You've got to do both jobs right to be called an all-rounder.
"The best advice I ever got was watch the ball closer and stay relaxed; take the stress out of your body."
Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
"He is improving. I'm seeing a better keeper now than a few months ago. Hopefully I'll see more improvement in three months' time."
Alec Stewart
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
"It is tough. Jonny's innings yesterday was quite outstanding bu with his keeping - and he's the first to admit - there's room for improvement.
"The reason he dropped it yesterday: the ball dipped on him. It's also the first time he's kept at Lord's. But he should have got more glove on it. He should have caught it."
Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
"Jonny Bairstow's concentration needs to improve behind the stumps. I think he could learn from his batting - he has a routine. He needs that with his keeping."
Roshan Abeysinghe
BBC Test Match Special
"Day three is going to be critical from a Sri Lankan point of view. They want to bat out the day. If they do that, it will be interesting. There's a lot of cricket yet in this game."

So, how are we doing today? Are you wishing the Queen a happy birthday? Celebrating the honours bestowed to Alastair Cook and Stuart Broad overnight? Or are you just nursing a Saturday morning hangover.
Whatever you're doing, let me know. Text 81111, tweet using the hashtag #bbccricket, external or email tms@bbc.co.uk.
Yep, the deck at HQ has resembled a shirt front, but there's a touch of mugginess in the air.
Might that encourage the ball to wobble?
If not, Sri Lanka could find find themselves at parity by the end of the day.
Then, at the end of all that, the third and final Test between England and Sri Lanka was pretty levels, you devils.
In reply to England's 416, the Lankans have reached 162-1 with few problems.
More of the same, or England to run rampant again?
...and a show of Sri Lankan mettle.
...a keeping clanger...
There was the best of Bairstow....
