  1. ouch!

Ooof, that's lovely from Anderson, late swing just eluding the swish of Herath. Jimmy follows up with one that takes off sharply off the seam and jams Herath's thumb against the bat handle. Ouchie. He's going to need bandaging here, and it's the left hand - Sri Lanka will hope that doesn't affect his bowling...

I find it's better to have mayonnaise with fish and chips, ketchup/barbecue with meat or just nothing and actually taste the food not the sauce!

Broad is dangling the carrot here, angling the ball across Perera, slips lined up like open-mouthed Hungry Hippos waiting for the edge. Perera is not going to die wondering though - he thrashes a length ball from Broad back over the bowler's head for four.

"Cook has a bruise on his leg and is getting treatment - that's why he's off the field and Joe Root is captain."

Yes, as we suspected, the shiny new globe is selected and Jimmy Anderson is revved up. The last ball of the over is authentic rozzer pitching on leg and hooping away past the tentative outside edge of Perera.

"Once they get rid of this last recognised pair, and with the new ball, it should be fairly easy for England's seamers."

Umpire's call on impact, Perera survives by a whisker. The ball was thudding into off stump.

So, Moeen to bowl the last over before the new-ball cavalry of Anderson and Broad are summoned. And, hello, we have a review - Perera going back to cut and hit in front...

I stick to this rule: red sauce with fish & chips, brown sauce with meat (bacon or sausages), either with scrambled eggs.

The answer, of course, is that you should always expect rain - that way you're never disappointed. Unless, of course, you get a snowstorm, or a hurricane, but to my knowledge they're rare at Lord's. Herath bunts a single off Finn. One over to go before the new ball...

Perera has a big heave at Moeen and gets an under edge that flies through Jonny Bairstow's ankles and away for two runs. I don't think even Bairstow's worst enemy would put that down as a chance.

Yowchie, what a shot that is from Kusal Perera - full toss from Steven Finn first thing after lunch and Perera crunches it down the ground baseball-style. If Finn had stuck out a foot to intercept that he'd have had it taken clean off.
